ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
After gaining respect as one of Oslo’s most uncompromising live bands, This Sect has struggled to get their uncontrollable urges on tape. Their music, which has been described as a mix between 80’s British post-punk and 90’s DC hardcore, is dark and disturbing, but the beautiful melodies and epic riffs are never far away. Bands like Joy Division, Fugazi and Les Savy Fav are often mentioned as comparisons.

Distress Signals was recorded live in studio and mixed by Gunnar Kjellsby, who also has produced the record in collaboration with This Sect. The EP is mastered by av Audun Strype. Legendary underground comic artist ”Uncle” Waldemar Hepstein has created the cover artwork.

”Oslo Norway's new wavesters This Sect - think Fugazi, Interpol crossed with Devo, P.I.L. maybe a touch of Flying Nun indieness!" -www.roughtrade.com

"The guitars and desperate vocals places this in the post-punk Joy Division/Cure tradition, but there is also a more modern edge to the music. Especially the drums and the bass adds punch to the four songs. With this EP, This Sect prove they have both soul and energy." -www.oslopuls.no
