ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Since 1993, Youthful Spirits has been singing about the love, power, and promise of Jesus Christ. Ranging in ages from 18 to 43, and based out of the DMV (Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia Metro area) these young men, who are commonly referred to as "Y.S.", have been singing and telling people about Jesus Christ both in season and out of season.

Whether they are in front of 100,000 at a rally in Manassas, 22,000 at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C., or in front of 20 homeward bound saints at a nursing home, Y.S. is ready to deliver a powerful message of love, hope, and forgiveness. Although they may not sing for a living, they know without a doubt that they sing for the true and living God.

Their music has received radio airplay nationally and internationally. It is a blend of traditional quartet gospel harmonies, contemporary gospel, jazz, and a touch of the unique “Go Go Swing” they all grew up on.

The new album, YS 4:17, is an incredibly diverse project of praise, worship, and emotion. Dealing with real life, every day struggles and everday triumphs, it captures the story of sinners in this day and age saved by grace. On each track are imperfect persons reaching out to a perfected risen saviour with love, praise, desperation and determination. Wherever you are in life, there is a song for you. From the opening groove of the track "God being God", to the solem praise of "Burdens down", to the contemporary "Holy Kiss" all the way to powerful live worship track "Worthy of my praise", there is something for everyone. On this album, you will pumping choir tracks (Higher and Higher), old school quartet "Jesus blessed Me", Hip Hop meets go-go cuts "So Good", and powerful, intricate vocals in soaring ranges of worship and praise "Prescence in praise"

With Lead singers Mike Coleman and Stevie Tibbs trading on each song, and the complimetary musical arrangments of James "Robbie" Wigington Jr. and the up and coming producer Tyler Jasper, the Youthful Spirits continue to stay unique, with a sound that's all them. As usual, long time drummer EJ White holds down the beat, while John Lacy and Perry Williams hold down the percussion. Add Hampton University music graduate Brandon Garner, and the praise and worship keeps flowing. Also featured on this album are noted smooth Jazz bassist Adrian "Egg" Norton, Gospel Jazz saxophonist Rob Maletick, Blues guitarist Sol Creech, respected Gospel Hip Hop artist J Swagg, and Mr. SPF on himself, Humble TIP. Also, YS alumni Tiki "Roderick Jeter" makes an appearence on the unforgetable "Presence In Praise". And no YS album is complete without the smooth vocals of Stevie Tibbs Sr.. YS 4:17 is an album that will touch your heart. For you can be sure of one thing: The Youthful Spirits don't sing for a living, They sing for a living God.
