Album Notes
Ever since she was a little girl, Mary Beth has been making things up. Making up songs, that is. Growing up in a musical family with her pianist mother and multi-instrumentalist sibllings, every child in the Abella household was forced kicking and screaming to piano lessons at an early age. The pay off is a melodic songwriting sensibility that compliments Mary Beth´s achingly beautiful, original voice.

Abella is the recipient of the Lionel Richie Songwriting Scholarship at UCLA, finalist in the Song of the Year contest, and a nominee of Westword Magazine’s Best of Denver. She has opened for acts such as Heart, Mates of State, and Juliana Hatfield. Her songs have been featured on MTV´s Real World/Road Rules, in indie films, shorts, and on Internet and college Radio stations across the country and around the world. She was also recently featured as the Wicked Woman of the Week artist on Bonaire's Ladies in Music radio show. She released two albums, ´´What Happened to the Girls?´´ (2002) and ´´Nice Girl´´ (2007) to critical acclaim. Both were produced by her brother, John Abella. An activist, social worker, and SGI Buddhist, the artist is currently working on a music video.

New and Fresh Sound
Nice Girl is a new favorite cd for me. Hungry for somthing new and fresh this cd has poignant lyrics, great instrumentation and stellar vocals. With the clever lyrics on Nice Girl it is no wonder this songstress was the winner of the Loinel Richie 2005 Songwriting Scholorship at UCLA.
Mary Beth Abellas voice is truly wonderfully heard and felt with such emotive expression. You can't listen to Good Girl without leaving with the impression that it is an intensely personal body of work she has poured herself into.
Good Girl is sure not to dissapoint and has certaintly found a permanent place in my musical library.

This CD is a great mix of lyrics, vocal and musical arrangement!
This CD shows a diversion from her previous album. The lyrics, vocals and musical arrangement are superior! The song I recommend a listen to is That’s Where I’ll be.
The way it start’s off is an interesting twist of an older LP playing; then the song surprises you with a strong upbeat sound. I would recommend this album to any real music collector!
