ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Across the Pond is a multi-instrumental trio performing their own high-octane arrangements of Irish and Scottish tunes and songs. This trio is very passionate about their traditional roots but also have modern influences. Their music is traditional, but also has a quite modern edge. Finding that special balance is what separates Across the Pond from most other Irish bands. They grab the audience from the very first beat right to the end.

Named in the Top 20 Celtic bands worldwide for 2014, Across the Pond performs high-energy, Celtic folk music with their own unique arrangements. With roots in 2011 as a local pub & concert band, they are recognized today as a Celtic wedding band performing from Virginia Beach, VA, to Montreal, Quebec. They have opened for Enter the Haggis, for Scotland’s Balladeer Jim Malcolm, and they perform regularly for a number of Scottish Society and Robert Burns events.

The band members come from musical backgrounds in Bluegrass, Country, Rock, and years of traditional Irish session and Scottish fiddle competition music. When they got together to play some music for fun, they discovered a unique blend of Celtic musical interests and formed the trio Morrison, Krepley & Diviney, which quickly morphed into Across the Pond.

Band members are Mike Morrison on guitar, mandolin, flute, banjo (and soon pipes); Chuck Krepley on fiddle, banjo & guitar; and Dan Diviney on bodhrán & pennywhistles. They perform a mix of songs and tunes, including jigs, reels, slip jigs, hornpipes, strathspeys, and slow airs.

They have appeared recently on local television and radio and internet podcasts in Scotland & Germany.

Our music is characterized by our fans as: magical, awesome, wonderful, incredible, fantastic, incredibly special, and is best summed up by one Belfast man: “Across the Pond is for real. These lads will assault you with authenticity and pure spirit of Irish music. A breath of fresh air in a genre oversaturated with cut-rate Dropkick-wannabe tripe! Irish traditional music is very much alive with Across the Pond!!” - Boston Jim Brady
