Album Notes
_actual time_ is a strange intersection of crunchy riffs, chaotic polyrhythms, and weird meters, including diverse elements gathered from jazz, fusion, classical, and metal.

_actual time_ is an instrumental studio project based on theoretical composition of intricate heavy metal. We write and record progressive metal instrumentals that feature heavy, syncopated riffs in polyrhythmic meters.

_actual time_ is:
Scott Andrews - 7-string guitars
Brad Derrick - drums
Tom Snyder - 5-string bass

_actual time_ has released three independent EPs:
"actual time" (1999)
"time frame" (2002)
"force of patterns" (2006)

Something unique, something different.
...In a very good way. You can tell that this is played to very specific patterns (yes, pun intended!), but at the same time, you can tell that they are very good on there instruments, and they very much so enjoy what they are playing.

I would actually like to see a full fledged CD from them in the future. Good stuff here.

Out of all the artists I've heard claiming to make polyrythmic music, finally a band that actually has something that perked up my ears.

It Grows on you...
This was one of my earlier downloads and I wasn't convinced it was for me after the first listen. I've learned that in most cases I really need to give the music a few "spins." Actual Time's "force of patterns" really grew on me. It certainly forced me to listen and try to keep up with all the changes. I might not give this a full-fledged 4, but close enough that I feel it warranted that rating.
