ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Suantraí, pronounced “SOON-tree,” is an Irish word that means “lullabies,” and can also mean a feeling of gentleness and comfort.

This is a collection of some of our favorite tunes that we've been playing over the past several years, living in our beloved homes of Ennis, County Clare, Ireland, and Boulder, Colorado. We dedicate the music on this album to our anam cairde in Ireland, and to the nature that we love and the land that feeds us.

This album was recorded DSD PURE to a Sonoma workstation through an 8 channel Grace preamp and Meitner MKIII A to D positioned close to the artists for the best sonic integrity.  It is the first in a series of DSD PURE "Corner Recordings" from Super Audio Center and Immersive Studios in Boulder Colorado.

Jon's guitar and banjo were recorded with a Shure KSM 32 and a Royer R-121 ribbon microphone.

Adam's fiddle was recorded with a Shure KSM 32 and an AEA R-92 ribbon microphone.
In addition, two Shure KSM 32’s were used to record the room.

Soulful
This album is such a pleasure to listen to! It takes you back to another time and place, very primal and soulful. This music is real and raw, transitioning from joy to sorrow. Jon and Adam blend and harmonize with each other so well. It is amazing all this sound comes from two people. Whether you are Irish or not, this music makes you feel like you are transported across the ocean, walking through the fields of green. Just lovely!

Nuance and elan!
I love this CD! From the inventive arrangements of the traditional tunes, to the bouncy circularity of Adam’s original composition, it’s a delight from start to finish. Adam and Jon are in complete sync with each other, creating a harmonious and nuanced sound that flows with emotion. The album is full of crisp and speedy, toe-tapping, get-up-and dance tunes, as well as hauntingly beautiful airs. Every note is shown careful attention imbuing each tune with zest, verve and elan! I’ve already listened to it twenty times and look forward to the next one hundred. Hurry up with your next album!
