Album Notes
Adam Sivitz, best known as the drummer for rock band, Mercury, gives beautifully genuine percussion performances on his debut, world beat album. This rhythmic exploration in world music has allowed Sivitz to experiment with West African and Indonesian percussion instruments. However, a rock influence is undeniable in the drumming on tracks like "Under a Blueberry Moon" and "Baba Yaga." Dale Cinski's guitar playing provides a unique energy and versatility that shines on songs such as "The First Sun" and "Poppy Orange." Cara Garofalo gives clean and classy violin performances on "Song for Sendai" and "Poppy Orange," and Kurt Lorence provides a soothing style of bass guitar, most notably on "And the World Jogged on." Tyler Groft, formerly of the U.S. Marine Corps Band, plays piano with a youthful enthusiasm that compliments the percussion perfectly, especially on the title track, and on "Olympia Place."

The album features the Bali Steel Pan, also known as a hang drum or handpan. Sivitz delivers commanding demonstrations of the instrument's alluring tones on "MIme Riot" and "Infrasonic." Under a Blueberry Moon is the only Steel Pan recording that offers such stylistic versatility, diverse musical arrangements, and the masterful studio performances from some of today's top musicians. In addition, the album showcases the impeccable work of producer, Klint Macro. Under a Blueberry Moon is a must-have for your music library if you are a fan of percussion, world beat, new age, or ambient music.
