Album Notes
"De Swalm", Adriaan's first song in Dutch, was praised by a Nashville jury as they wrote: "We were carried away and loved every second of it! Great job!" After recording this song, Adriaan has found tons of inspiration about the things in life that make people happy, sad, radiant or indifferent.
The new single "Voor Vira" is named after a minor goddess (Viradecdis) worshipped by sailors who served at the Roman army settlement Fectio in what is now The Netherlands. The place still exists, named Vechten. The sailors were mercenaries from a tribe living in what is now the Ardennes, Belgium. They left a stone, engraved with words of gratitude for Vira. Apparently, she was of help when they found themselves in a dire situation. The song, although inspired by this stone, has a more universal meaning as people often turn to supernatural entities for rescue and redemption.
