Album Notes
Adrian Crutchfield is known mostly for his neo-soul sound. His great tambre is applicable to any genre from jazz and funk to latin and rock. Adrian's star began shining at the age of four after being given his first saxophone by the acclaimed Jazz artist, Kenny G while attending a concert in Roanoke Va with his family. Kenny G noticed that the four year old was highly excited by the performance. He briefly stopped the concert and brought Adrian to the stage, blowing a few notes before giving him the saxophone. Since that day, he has built a solid reputation as a professional musician. Adrian has performed in movies and has been extremely active with his music in the community. He has also performed with groups like The Gap Band and Fourplay. Adrian began his career as a professional musician in 1998 around the age of 14. That year he began performing in shows, and clubs all over the Charlotte North Carolina area. During this time he established himself in the smooth jazz and R&B scene. Now only in his early twenties, Adrian has become a strong force in the music world. After a few years of performing. Adrian began achieving larger goals. Eventually he was known as one of the most popular musicians in the Charlotte area. In the summer of 2001, at the age of 16, Adrian opened for national recording artist Regina Belle and was also given two awards by the cultural calendar magazine- one of these being "Artist of the Year". In 2002 he met and performed for Neo Soul Diva Angie Stone on her birthday and was offered a spot in her tour band the same night. In April of 2006 Adrian became the sax man for national recording artist Anthony Hamilton during the “Change Your World Tour” which featured artists such as Heather Headley, Van Hunt, and Vivian Green. Adrian has recently been focusing on writing and producing. His productions include a wide range of music spanning from jazz and pop to hip hop and R&B. Adrian has also performed with smooth jazz icon Kim Waters, American Idol Fantasia Barrino, and been the sax man for internationally known recording rap star Young Jeezy. In April 2008, Adrian received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the Florida State University, where he studied commercial music, jazz, and contemporary media. Adrian’s debut album, entitled “Private Party”, includes a wide variety of music spanning from jazz to neo soul, to even hip hop, and is his way of expressing what he learned from his experiences working with so many different artists in so many different genres within the music industry.
