ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Hard Rockin' 9/11 veteran firefighters return with their New EP exhibiting their own brand of freshly honest, Hard driving, sensually melodic, metal-esque rock that will release the primal beast inside and rescue your weary soul. Yes, all at once.
AFTERBURN began in New York City, by an FDNY firefighter following the devastation of September 11th, 2001. From those mounds of ash & twisted steel, death, and destruction called ground zero, awoke the dream that would later become AFTERBURN.
Joe Martin Jr. put aside his music aspirations for awhile once he had joined the fire department. Realizing how short life is and how precious and limited our time is, he felt it was time to pick up his guitar again. With the first conception of the band formed in 2009, only six months later the lead singer, Dave Reilly decided to move on. It was at this time that former drummer Mike, and Joe, while playing hockey in the world police and fire games, got in touch with Rich Appenzeller through a team mate. "Apps" decided to come down and check it out after hearing a few of the bands demo songs, not knowing what to expect. He had been playing in multiple cover bands for the past few years, but didn't find the same satisfaction as he did playing original music. With his strong, versatile vocal ability, Rich came aboard the AFTERBURN Express, all in, and without a clue as to where it was heading.
After making a statement in the local venues with the AFTERBURN live show and sound, they were invited down to Austin Texas, three years running (2012-2014) to play on the Texas Rockfest stages during the SXSW music festival.
In June of 2014, after years of recording, their first full length LP, " Never Forget" was released. In August of 2014, AFTERBURN played direct support at Blackthorn 51 in N.Y.C. for Faster Pussycat. Directly after their set, AFTERBURN was invited by Faster to tour with them in the Fall of 2014, starting on Halloween at The Whiskey A Go Go, and then all across America and back, ending in Chicago just before Thanksgiving.
Having established a place in the local music scene as well as nationally, AFTERBURN played shows all across the country from Long Island N.Y. to the Whiskey A Go-Go in Los Angeles, from Green Bay Wisconsin down to San Antonio Texas alongside legendary bands and musicians such as Steven Adler of GNR, Joe and Al Bouchard of Blue Oyster Cult, Doug Pinnick of Kings X, Faster Pussycat, Lillian Axe, L.A. Guns, The Bullet Boys, Kenny Arnett, Gina Stiles, and the late great A.J. Perro, to name a few.
They received acclaim from fans and fellow rockers for their live performance as well as song composition. In August of 2015, the original drummer and bassist decided to move on and left the group. Since then, Joe and Rich regrouped and restructured, with young prodigy Matty Chase on the drums just in time to record and release a new EP "Excuse My Demons" October 2016, on Friday the 13th. Without a bassist at the time, Joe slappa da bass on two tracks, while studio owner and co-producer, John Iadavaio shared his bass playing expertise on the rest. Soon after the ep release, having reached out to perspective musicians for the bassist position for a few months, Joe received info about Charles " Chick" Satterley through a mutual friend and musician. Charles wasn't too sure what he was getting himself into, but it didn't take Chick, affectionately known to the band members as "Groot", too long to fit in with his aggressive bass playing style.
In January of 2017, AFTERBURN held their cd release show to a full house, and began working on new material for a 2017 release.
"Open Road Confession" is their pre-release single for the upcoming full length album. Gaining momentum with their highly energetic live show and music, AFTERBURN continues forward without an end in sight. All this has been achieved through the memory of their brother firefighters that sacrificed their lives on 9/11/01 so that many would survive. 343. NEVER FORGET.
AFTERBURN looks forward to the future, to bringing great new music and breaking down walls and industry barriers in true firefighter fashion, to get our music heard world round. On behalf of Joe Martin Jr, Rich Apps, Matty "Chase" Sebel, and
Chick Satterley, Thanks! play it loud and Enjoy! \m/\m/
