ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This CD takes some of the singer's favorite songs from the 1930s and 1940s and gives them a modern feel with simple vocal and solo piano arrangements; violin and viola also accompany him on two of the songs. A veteran actor of stage, musicals and television, Alan brings a heart-felt approach to song interpretation, making these standards come alive again for contemporary listeners.

Alan Safier is a stage, television, and voice-over actor, as well as a singer and recording artist who has starred in more than two dozen musicals in New York, Los Angeles, and in regional theatres. He may be familiar from hundreds of TV and radio voice-overs (perhaps most notably as the Kibbles ’n Bits dog). He's appeared on dozens of TV shows, including the daytime dramas "Passions," "Days of Our Lives," and "Generations." His most recent prime-time guest-star appearance was on "The Wizards of Waverly Place."

George Burns met Gracie Allen in 1923. Until her retirement in 1958, they were one of the most successful comedy teams in the history of show business. All the songs on this album were written during the 35 years that George and Gracie brought laughter to America. Alan Safier has had the great honor of portraying George Burns on stage in the one-man show "Say Goodnight Gracie," in which he has been touring the U.S. since 2008. This collection is a tribute to the everlasting popularity of Burns & Allen.
