ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Concertinfouro was written as a surprise 40th birthday present for my wife, Claire, who is a clarinettist.
It was given a first performance just a few weeks later on Saturday 24th March 2012 by the Argyle Orchestra with Claire playing the solo clarinet and myself conducting.
The recording was made in January 2015 at Angel Studios in London with Matthew Hunt performing the solo clarinet. The Chamber Orchestra of London was lead by Janice Graham and I conducted.
The piece is played continuously but has three distinct parts, each with their own subtitle. The first part is called "Mahler's Sixth" and is bright and joyous, the second part "M4 Corridor" is more introspective but builds to a climax that over-whelms the soloist and then followed by "Music Room G&Ts" which is a romp to the finish!
Alastair King, May 2015
