Album Notes
Jon Albrink is a singer/songwriter who has drawn from his extensive experience as a poet, jazz musician and pop/rock songwriter to put together the eleven songs on his new CD "Shimmer and Thrum."

The songs vary from the funky rock of "Nowhere Fast" to the bittersweet regret of "All That Glitters", all rendered in Jon's understated yet impassioned voice.

The CD features stellar performances by Producer Billy Ward on drums, bassist John Pattitucci, guitarist Marc Shulman, keyboardist Jim Beard, violist Allison Cornell, and guitarist Bruce Gaitsch.

Taken together, the eleven songs of "Shimmer and Thrum" provide an unsparing look at the joys and disappointments of being a grown-up in this world.

From the dreamer-who-will-never-get-it-together in "Miracle", to the couple reaching for one last chance in "The Christmas Roses", "Shimmer and Thrum" will involve you and make you feel.

gorgeous melodies with perfect lyrics
Everything about this CD is well crafted and beautifully done, from the gorgeous melodies and perfect lyrics, mostly by Jon Albrink with some collaboration by producer/drummer extraordinaire Billy Ward, to the assured singing and playing and even to the album graphics of long, tall Jon Albrink walking through a blurry, black and white Manhattan. My favorite cuts are "Measure of the Man" and "All that Glitters" but there's not a bad song on this CD. Thoughtful, musical, deep.
