ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Do you or someone you know have a mechanical heart valve? Does its noise keep you awake at night? This recording can help.

"Heartbeat River" is not music nor is it a nature-only recording. It is a psychoacoustic soundtrack specifically designed & developed for heart patients with mechanical heart valves who have trouble sleeping. More>

Bear in mind that the :15 second sample heard here is a lower audio fidelity than what you will receive and picks up abruptly somewhere in the middle, long after the gradual introduction of the valve sounds have taken place. Important to the overall concept, the soundtrack develops slowly...first with water, then with the heart sounds randomly being introduced like first raindrops - until the sound takes you to a riverbank during a rainstorm. More>

"Heartbeat River" is a 25:00 minute audio soundtrack that artistically blends the real sound of a human heart with its implanted mechanical valve (manipulated with audio software to mimic the random sound of rain), with the natural sounds of natural river water flowing over rocks. This sound of water flowing over select-sized rocks was specifically chosen as it shares the some sound characteristics and frequencies of the heartvalve. More>

With your iPod, Zune, SanDisk, or similar mp3 audio device in repeat-mode or CD player in repeat mode, listening to this 25:00 minute track will result in a better night’s sleep - as “Heartbeat River” will successfully mask the sound of your own implanted mechanical heart valve.

Here's how Wikipedia describes psychoacoustics; "The scientific study of sound perception. More specifically, the branch of science studying the psychological and physiological responses associated with sound (including speech and music). It can be further categorized as a branch of Psychophysics." More>
