ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
A Native of New Orleans, Alexis Marceaux is a Singer-Songwriter whose music is known for poignant lyrics woven into a tapestry of soulful melodies. Influenced by artists like Carole King & Alanis Morissette, her musical style can best be described as a collision of eclectic acoustic alternative and mellow intoxication. In April 2009 Alexis released her debut album “Dandelion” which you can find on iTunes, CDbaby.com, Amazon and more. Alexis is currently working on her second album entitled “Orange Moon,” which is due to release in April 2011.

Alexis’s first public venue was at the age of seven, and she wrote her first song at the age of thirteen. Born in New Orleans, Alexis and her family lost everything in Hurricane Katrina and had to start again. This experience strengthened her musically allowing her an outlet of expression and creativity through her songwriting. She attributes much of her musical inclination to her father who is also a New Orleans musician and to her constant musical surroundings as a young child.Without extensive formal instrumental lessons, she plays guitar, piano and harmonica to accompany and compliment her powerful vocals, as well as to compose. Over the years, Alexis has enjoyed classical vocal training in both the private and academic setting; however, she prefers the organic sound that comes from unconventional musical creativity.Alexis recorded her first full length album entitled, Dandelion, at Audiophile studios in the French Quarter, which was mixed and mastered by Grammy Award winning sound engineer David Farrell. “Dandelion” was released in April 2009.

She currently plays live shows in and around the New Orleans area, including: The House of Blues: Parish, The Howlin’ Wolf: Southshore & Northshore and multiple French Quarter clubs. She has also played multiple festivals including this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (April 23, 2010) and has been a featured performer in many other venues. Alexis has a large local fan base that is expanding continuously. As a solo artist, Alexis can perform acoustically and alone with her acoustic guitar, piano and harmonica or with her 5 piece band entitled. The full band features Alexis along side some of New Orleans’ most talented musicians. Paul Thibodeaux on drums, Ted Long on electric and upright bass, and Sam Craft on violin, guitar, and auxiliary percussion.

In addition to her busy solo career, Alexis also plays with local New Orleans Indie Rock band Glasgow. Sam Craft who plays violin for Alexis fronts his own band as well and shortly after joining her band added her along to his. Alexis sings and plays auxiliary percussion for Glasgow. They have just released their original rock opera EP entitled, “1986,” to learn more visit www.glasgowband.net!

Alexis is currently working on her second album entitled “Orange Moon” at the studio of Rick G. Nelson. Rick plays strings with the very successful band Polyphonic Spree and has collaborated with many other talented artists, however, in his spare time he engineers out of his home in New Orleans. Sam Craft who plays in Alexis’ band has been producing and collaborating on the new album her. Many talented local artists will be featured on “Orange Moon,” including Susan Cowsill, Russ Broussard, Craig Klein, Paul Sanchez, Big Sam of Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Jack Craft, Micah McKee, the members of Sun Hotel, Caddywhompus, Big History, Vox and the Hound and many, many more! Alexis is now in the mixing stages of the album and is due to release by April 2011.
