Album Notes
Kaleidoscope has many unique features and benefits, including:
Developmentally Driven: It is learning-centered with endless rhythms and rhymes to promote pattern recognition and language development.
Broad Appeal: This is authentic music that will not drive the parents out of the room (or their minds!).
Positive Aesthetic: It sends an empowering message to children featuring kindness and inner strength.
Exposure: It promotes curiosity and open-mindedness through diverse sounds and voices.

The whole album has so much substance not only in the music making and its elements, but in its message! It is a creative and vibrant project that engages your ears and soul.
- Dr. Marcela Molina, Director, Tucson Girls Chorus

Each song’s unique characteristics shine brightly, with track after track reflecting layers of loveliness and joy.
-Lorie Barnes – Executive Director, NCAEYC (North Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children)

I love these tunes! The entire album would be a great addition to any classroom or home with children.
-Le Anne Lawhead, M.Ed., Early Childhood Education Faculty, Yavapai College, Prescott, Arizona

As a filmmaker, I know how difficult it can be to appeal to a broad cross section of people of all ages. I believe these wonderful artists and musicians have accomplished exactly that.
- Rashaad Ernesto Green, Filmmaker, Director, Gun Hill Road, Sundance Film

Foot-tapping, spirit-lifting, and seriously fun music for children and for the child in all of us – can’t wait to buy the album for friends and family.
-LaVonne Douville, Chief Impact Officer, United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona

With all of the musical choices we have for our kids these days it’s nice to find something that is awesome… reminds me of the days when Sesame Street and Schoolhouse Rock started.
-John Forbes, Composer and Producer, Nashville/Atlanta – CBS, “The Good Wife”, “This Cup”, FIFA World Cup 2014, Arranger and Keyboard for Rick James “Urban Rhapsody”, Solo keyboardist for Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston

“Wow…totally awesome! What a great way for children to learn about…whatever! This music get across any message because it engages all aspects of a person - heart, soul & body. BaDoo just makes you want to move and I can certainly see children dancing and pretending to be a bug with this one - it's very inspirational! It captures the feel of the bug flying through plants like it's in a jungle with that jazzy feel. That's the part I think that would get the children dancing and using their imagination. Can't wait to see the video!”

LaVonne Douville

A rare find in music for children
By LaVonne Douville, United Way of Tucson and Southern Arizona
Album Summary In its entirety this “children’s” album is unusually well-produced. The music, singing and instrumentation are of the highest quality. Listening is easy and produces a wide range of emotional and physical responses. The humor and intelligence of the lyrics combined with the finger snapping, foot tapping beats, are just plain fun and can be enjoyed over and over. Teachers, parents, and child-loving adults of all ages will want to use this album to play and sing with children. Seldom does children’s music evoke action and joy as strongly and consistently as these musical selections do and each selection creates a different mood for different purposes.
Interesting rhythm, fun and complex language, introducing new words and creative music that makes you want to get up and jump and dance. Perfect music for creative dramatics with young children. Language that provokes discussion and evokes images and action. Embedded images that could be used to discuss what an insect is and what it does. The directions to move certain parts of one’s body leads to great action and ideas.
Rabbit Rap
Nice beat, simple rhyming that allows for child-adult interaction and lots of action. Another song for working in groups with children and elicit fun responses. Fun and engaging story line that children will understand and will appreciate the humor.
A Round for Peace
Nice repetitive message and clear, sweet sound. Can imagine children singing this in the round. Teachers can use to discuss what peace and happiness means. Lots of open-ended questions can be asked and answered by the children. Could be part of a much wider discussion of countries and ideas that translate across culture and language.
Very danceable, movement enhancing music with humorous undertones in the words and the instruments. This is a head moving, foot stomping sound. The words also evoke imagery of our bodies and how they work.
Soft and soothing sound with emphasis on each instrument and how the music and melody tell a story that a child can dream about. Hypnotic words and music that would encourage relaxation and dreaminess. A lullaby and images to remember and want to hear again before bedtime.
Marching music to inspire thinking in children about what they can imagine. Very visual imagery and comical, visual language that could be used to accompany or introduce an art project or creative play.
Like a Round for Peace, this music encourages us to think of ourselves as unique but part of an interdependent world where kindness, goodness, and awareness of others can lead to a better world for all. Imagine a world where everyone believes in kindness and compassion—a song like this has the ability to provoke children to think about how they can be part of this “kind” world, what such a world would look like, and how they can make the world a better place by their own positive actions.
Tails Rule
Humor-filled images that children will enjoy singing. They will also want to play the role of an animal with a tail. What can a tail do for you? Why would you want one? What can it do? Great prompt for teacher-child discussion about how different parts of bodies have purposes and why animals have different parts because of where they live and develop.
A delightful, melodic song to introduce children to the magic of a garden. Would be a good introduction to gardening and what children might do to create their own.
Many children will enjoy the dinosaur beat in this song and will want to pretend they are dinosaurs. Perfect for the child intrigued by dinosaur stories.
Fun beat and message that children can relate to about how to change their attitude from not being able to do something to believing they are capable and can do it.
Jungle Gym
Music encourages action and movement. Could be used in a classroom to invite children to move around and see themselves as animals that can make a wide variety of movements.
Commotion/Ocean Lullaby
Two more soothing songs similar to Night that evokes dreaminess and the desire to rest and contemplate the world as one settles into a good sleep. Time for just listening and relaxing. The Ocean Lullaby also gives a child images of the ocean through music and words that let them contemplate an underworld drama while sleeping or relaxing. Very good for nap time and listening to the wonderful sound of whales and waves.
Fun and engaging beat and lots of descriptive words for bugs and what they do. Children’s voices make the song attractive to a child and encourage them to join with the fun.
Little Butterfly
Sultry and soothing music that helps a child remember when they’ve seen a butterfly and the beauty and wistfulness of their movement in the world.
Drip Dribble
Repetition of beat and rhythm reminds one of what dripping and dribbling sounds of rain feel like. Could be used to discuss rain, the sounds it makes and how the sounds differ in intensity—from a heavy, monsoon rain, to a slow drizzly rain. How does the sound of rain make you feel? When does it feel good? What does it smell like?
I Wonder
An attractive melody that recognizes the inquisitive nature of children and how they question their role in the world as they grow and develop. Tells a story with strong and evocative language and music.
Chile Hand Jive
Song for children to repeat and work with timing and rhythm—faster and faster.
Imagery and melody allow children to see how the world has many colorful and magical aspects. The harmony and simple musical score helps the child see themselves as part of a bigger whole.

The best of science and art to young listeners!
“From the start, I was intrigued by the steady beat through all of the sounds and alliterations. Talk about building vocabulary and promoting physical movement for children! It’s upbeat and it truly brings the best of science and art to a young listeners ears. Kaleidoscope really lives up to its name. It a colorful collection of both upbeat and relaxing music, lullabies and wonderful instrumentation with a jazz vibe running throughout. The songs were easy to sing along and the rhythms made for dancing. This album is definitely something new for families and educators to use from the children's music genre. It's something everyone can enjoy!”
