Na Mi Naz Ouni

Album Notes
In her debut album Na Mi Naz Ouni, Alina Manoukian searches for her roots through an approach she hasn’t used before the musical expression of a new generation of the Armenian diaspora that was raised in the West can be found in Manoukian’s new arrangements of 15 traditional Armenian songs. These new old songs tell of the beauty of nature, of unrequited love and of longing.
Sebastian Albert accompanies Alina Manoukian on the acoustic guitar. With that very simple cast the vocals sound sometimes intense, powerful and passionate, then again tender, pure and immediate.

„Alina Manoukian presents old Armenian folk songs with such an intensity that it sends shivers down the spine of the audience with the very first note. With her pure voice, sounding gentle then harsh again, she expresses the Armenian soul. Even though the audience does not understand the foreign word, very soon the heart does.(...)
(...) It’s due to Alina Manoukian’s artistic performance as an actor and a musician that these foreign songs seem so familiar to us.”
Göttinger Tageblatt

“Alina Manoukian sings old Armenian folk songs – sometimes delicately then again with passion... Due to the many talents of the young singer – being dreamy as well as lascivious, in any case very charming and adorable, blessed with a multifaceted voice – this concert proves to be an unforgettable one.“
Badische Zeitung

„The delicate yet powerful voice finds its way into the heart and touches you with the very first sound. A wonderful experience of profound meaning and inwardness.“
Zeitung Weil am Rhein
