Album Notes
The third c.d. from guitarist and composer Allen Hinds is by far his most adventurous and revealing. This c.d. sounds better and all the performances are great. Jimmy Johnson, Jeff Babko, Randy Porter, Melvin Davis, are just a few of the great players featured on this c.d. Fun, Fun,Fun..nice variety of "vibes"..very good "vibes"

Like it says up on the notes: "Fun,Fun,Fun and VIBES". It can't get any more viby than this album.

First of all, the rhythm section is rediculous to begin with. You can tell just from those names that Allen spent the time and effort to make a great album.

And second and most of all, Allen's guitar crazyness. It's every guitar player's dream to play and write like him. I've never heard or seen anyone play like Allen.

The mix on the CD's awsome. It sounds like you're in a club where all the guys are playing just for you.

It's not any of those "Fusion Guitar" albums at all. He sings with his guitar, it's his voice. You'll forget that he's actually playing the guitar because he's so melodic. And his compositions, sheesh...I got goose bumps when I heard "Katie's Dreams"

So go grab a coffee and listen this Album. It'll be the best 15 bucks (for the coffe and the CD) you'll ever spend on quality music (and coffee).

Brilliant Gem
Wow, he did it at last...what amazing live feeling with wide & thick sounds. His guitar tunes are telling us with various emotions - nostalgic, joyful, hopeful... it's non-stop. His talent is a real brilliant gem. Thanks.

Allen Has Done It Again!
Unfortunately I don't live on the west coast. It is hard to keep up with Allen's current work except for what I can find on the net ~ so I find myself constantly waiting for his next CD release. "Falling Up" was WORTH THE WAIT!!! I find it very interesting that music is constructed from a "set number" of notes. Allen is a master at grouping those limited notes together in flavors that continue to amaze. His voicings on this album really are something to hear. Every song on this album is so nicely arranged and tasteful. This releases namesake - "Falling Up" really speaks to me, and "Katie's Dreams" takes a listener to another place in time. Very highly textured and articulate playing all around. What a fantastic work this CD is... but, alas - we are waiting yet again for another amazing gift of music from AH!

Allen is a monster.
Having 4 Cd's on CDBABY myself.."Caligator", I find the very best music on CDBABY. Allen has this great good time feel to his music I just love to relax kick back and groove to his awesome playing. I have the first two CD's, and they are some of my faves. This one sounds just as good or better. I love the Come together slow groove, what a great version of that song. I have a few close friends that have this specail groove, Shane Theriot & Brian Kahanek and both of them love Allen's playing. I wish I had his fluid dreamy swirl of lead playing, what a gift.
I give this CD as well as his last two..a 5 star review....corky, Caligator.

The most underrated guitarist in the world ?
Allen Hinds really shines through this new album, very nice compositions (and fantastic cover of "come together"), played but one the best guitarist I know (and I know a few), with incredible guitar tones. Thanks.
PS : as written in review below, we need to hear Allen in a more blues & funk context next time !

It doesn't get any better
In my opinion, this is a watershed album. The tone, playing, composing is other-worldly....fat tones engulf this great sounding album which is mixed perfectly and sounds wonderful on my tube home stereo....a sonic delight! Thanks.

locked in my cd player!
Very nice indeed - albeit a tad "soft" here and there, but very tastefull on the right side of fusion. Next one will be a bit more funk/bluesy?? Oh, and that Beatle song is... sexy!

Falling Up
Allen and I were housemates in Auburn Alabama back in the mid-70's. I lisr=tened to him for hours while he practiced and experimented. I'm not at all surprised at how well he is doing as he was a great guitarist even then. Keep it up, Allen!

Anthology of blues/jazz tracks featuring vocals full of soulful emotion
Guitarist/composer Allen Hinds performs an anthology of blues/jazz mixed with world fusion on his latest album, titled “Falling.” With guitar being the main focal point, Hinds executes stinging rhythmic complexities. Creative melodies and the colorful chord structure bring this album to life. “Come Together” is a tried and true standard that Hinds injects his own bluesy spin into. His vocals have strong tonality and spill out with soulful emotions. Brilliance and speed highlight “Rat Scat” as guitar and organ run with a musical pattern that is sizzling hot. Relax and enjoy Allen Hinds’ work of art entitled “Falling” that is sure to please fans of blues, jazz, and the style of Chris Whitley.
