Album Notes
Allison Lupton's balance of strong composition and sensitive musicality makes her a fine contemporary songwriter and interpreter of the tradition and the works of her fellow songsmiths. - Archie Fisher

Allison Lupton
Half My Heart (independent)
Allison Lupton approaches recording like a master winemaker. No album before its time could be her creative motto.
It took the Cambridge-based folk artist six years to release her sophomore offering, "Fly Like Swallows," after recording her debut "My True Love."
True to form, her third album, "Half My Heart," matured over seven years. To say it picks up where her previous albums left off is meant as high praise.
Lupton has a sweetly piercing soprano that is crisp and clean. She accompanies herself on flute and whistles. Although heavily influenced by traditional Celtic music, she performs original songs, material drawn from the Canadian folk songbook and songs penned by bandmates and friends.
Lupton's voice remains front and centre on, which is how it should be. But she gets strong contributions from her band: Ian Bell on guitar, banjo and concertina; Andrew Collins on mandolin, fiddle and harmony vocals; Shane Cooke on fiddle; and Denis Rondeau on bass — augmented by guest musicians Lori Gemmell on harp, Tom Leighton on accordion and piano and Craig Werth on guitar, among others.
Produced by Lupton at James Gordon's Pipe Street Studio, "Half My Heart" will delight longtime fans while extending welcoming arms to new listeners. - Robert Reid Waterloo Region Record
