Album Notes
Listening to Peachy Keyn is like meeting good friends in your favorite coffee shop, where the conversation is always engaging and the drinks never fail to warm your soul. It is a place that you want to return again and again so you can sip slowly on each note, enjoying the way it lifts your spirit and nourishes your heart.

Allison Radell calls on the keys of Horace Silver and the hands of Thelonius Monk while inviting their spirits to dance together with the voices of Motown to the rhythms of a post-industrial landscape. She weaves together jazz, blues, soul, and rock with her expressive piano and keyboard skills, creating a beautiful tapestry of songs that resonate deep within the hearts of her audience.

Through her instrumental arrangements backed by a talented rhythm section, and in her smoky blue vocals that she shares on half of the songs, listeners are invited to join in this honest discussion while being treated to extra shots of musical adventure.

Her songs are a meeting place of the Detroit metro area where she was born and raised and the urban streets that have nurtured and inspired her musical journey. The title track lives up to its name as it helps listeners smile while we tap our feet and hum along. Allison’s heritage as a Native American singer and dancer shine through on Moon Tune as she shares her vision that “healing is coming soon.” The Detroit Suite takes listeners through a history of industrial triumph and ruin into a creative rebirth of the city that she loves, all on the keyboard of a grand piano.

Allison's songs invite us to listen closely to the music within our own hearts and to pay attention to the songs of our ancestors, the night sky, and the city streets. The album gives us a soul-inspired reminder to smile, tap our feet, connect with our musical heartbeat, and feel Peachy Keyn.

From Playful to Introspective
I love Allison's CD Peachy Keyn, especially her tune "Searching for the Lord". Her voice is able to evoke emotions that range from playful to introspection. I love the way her voice can mimic her piano perfectly.
