Album Notes
"Sketches of Youth", the debut album of young, soulful singer-songwriter Allister Quilon features layered narratives of emotional turbulence disguised as infectious pop melodies wrapped in danceable, synth-driven production.

Comprising elements of 90's and contemporary pop, jazz, R&B, and even classical music, Quilon takes songwriting cues from a wide-range of acts including The Beatles, Sam Cooke, The Temptations, Lauryn Hill, Frank Ocean, Lana Del Rey, Radiohead, Haim, Coconut Records, and No Doubt, while imbuing lived-in lyricism with poetic vibrancy.

The overall effect is more catchy than kitschy--Quilon's talent for creating tuneful melodies implants many of the songs in one's mind, while the catchy lyrical hooks invite listeners to explore the tunes more deeply. "Sketches of Youth" introduces us to a protagonist who's romanticism lands him lost within the waves of glamorized love.
