Album Notes
Long Island resident AllOne debuts his music accompanied material in a humble and subtle manner on his first album. The album was produced by Michael Korb at Sixth Street Studios (St. James NY) and features collaborations with Long Island artists to promote the scene and those involved. It includes four rewritten and remixed songs by Indie favorite Michael Korb, celebrated folk/blues musicians Phil Minissale and John Myles, upcoming acoustic alternative artist Robert Bruey, promoting their older and recently release albums, as well as four original songs with singers, musicians, and poets: Gina Tomitz, Kenny Korb, Chris Nicola and Joli Ienuso.
"I really wanted to give thanks to the scene that inspired and spurred my development, I wanted each of these artists get a chance to shine and I had alot of fun working with them" says Bruce "AllOne" Pandolfo, who's work has been compared to Eminem, a sentence typically finished with "but alot smarter/better". Don't let that comparison, the words "hip hop" or the diamonds on the artwork fool you (the coal is what should be paid attention to), this album is full of intricate wordplay, tight knit rhyme patterns, philosophical topics, encouraging messages, tales of abusive relationships and varying emotional issues as AllOne often embodies characters he creates to communicate his messages. "I think that comparison just comes with the lack of melanin" he laughs "and that (Eminem) is one of the only more complex people in mainstream music, which is a shame, because there are so many other talented artists as well, whatever their color, that deserve spotlight more than the, and make sure you put this in quotations: "artists" on the radio today".
AllOne certainly isn't following any radio or hip hop conventions: with folk, blues, indie rock, soul, spoken word poetry and ambient music lending soundscapes for AllOne to decorate with his intense lyricism throughout, this album is an Aberration in itself. Raised in Long Island, NY, Bruce Pandolfo was taught the importance of reading and kept away from the television. This was the first step in the birth of the Hip Hop artist All One. After three years of honing his craft in the flourishing Long Island music scene around open mics, and having cameos in other's concerts he adopted the name All One and decided to push forward with music.
"His influences in music and in writing gave him the tools to begin shaping his own style, and through the years I have seen him break the mold with which he started. In that time I never saw anyone on the Long Island art and music scene with an approach to writing like he has. Many different artists came and went over those years: singers, songwriters, poets, rappers, impromptu artists, and storytellers. AllOne consists of all these styles, and yet cannot be defined as any of them. His inventive and witty thinking, high energy personality, and natural musical abilities create the perfect storm for an outstanding performer." -Andrew Bilello, 3+ years Cool Beanz Open Mic Host
