Album Notes
After forming in late 2003, the upbeat melodic-pop trio ALSO from Los Angeles has already been featured on MTV programming, received airplay on LA's famed radio station KCRW 89.9FM, and played shows extensively all over southern California. All of this was supported and accomplished with self produced home recordings... until now.

send them off smiling...
is the debut studio release from ALSO. Independently released, the five song EP was recorded at 4th Street Recording Studio in Santa Monica and mastered at Marcussen Mastering in Hollywood. This album is packed with vocal talent, intellectually stimulating lyrics, and solid musicianship. It is sure to turn some heads.

Fantastic 5song EP
So agreeable to listen!

Michelle Slyter

I absolutely love this cd.
The music is unbelievable. The music reminds me of The Smiths. All their songs put me in a really good mood. I can listen to this cd over and over again.

Solid studio debut EP: A storm of sonic missiles
"Send Them Off Smiling...", as usual for most ALSO releases vested with an ambigious title, was the first studio
work of the band which should later merge with their debut album "It Was Fine To Be Kind". From Track 1 on you get
a musically joyous, lyrically forward accumilation with a lot of energy. "I Would Care about what you do if you spoke with rather than to", delicate subtleties like that packed in compelling rhythm is what fits ALSO's peculiarity. When you can hear some post-punk influences in suing "The Disappearing Heart" or "South Seas Princess" it is rather the jubilant (new) wave sound mixed with British melancholic power indie pop that predominates this selection. "Breather" and "Kingdom Gone" are standout tracks that display cathartically, despite the lyrical poignancy, a jubilant, buoyant spirit based on an irony that will delight fans of Morrissey/The Smiths, Talking Heads, The Divine Comedy or Belle & Sebastian.
This is a nice addition to your ALSO collection, especially since this EP edition is quite limited and other compilations will have a more somber appeal tending towards darkness and more complicated compositions.
