Album Notes
This is a collection of six unique "soundscapes" that use advanced psychoacoustic principles to enhance neurological processing. The primary feature that creates this benefit is bilateral stimulation, the gentle back-and-forth swaying of sound between the left and right channel. People use bilateral stimulation to increase emotional well-being, improve insight, cultivate creativity and promote overall personal growth. In addition, certain types of psychotherapy use bilateral stimulation for a variety of purposes. This music was created in consultation with experts in the therapeutic use of bilateral stimulation to provide maximum benefit in the widest variety of settings.

This collection builds upon the success of the first CD from Alternating Sounds, "Written on Clouds: Bilateral Music for Healing and Growth". The bilateral panning irate in this collection is much slower, between 6 and 9 cycles per minute (cpm). The selections are also generally lengthier, with two tracks approximately 14 minutes each. Both of these features enhance deeper and more sustained neural processing effects

In addition, several of the tracks include the use of subtle brainwave entrainment, a slight signal pulsation that occurs approximately 4 times a second (4 Hz). This is the lower end of the "theta" brainwave range, which is typically associated with lightly meditative relaxation and free flow of ideation, one step above the REM dream state.

Please note that this music must be listened to with headphones or ear buds in order to take advantage of the unique sonic qualities that make this special music most effective.

There are lots of ways to benefit from this special music, so take time to discover what you personally find most helpful, while following these general guidelines:

1. The use of headphones or ear buds is required for auditory bilateral stimulation to be effective.

2. Never listen to this music while driving or doing anything else that requires your full conscious attention, in order to insure your safety and that of others.

3. Play this music as softly as possible while still being able to hear it.

4. Don't use this music as a substitute for medical, psychiatric or psychological advice, diagnosis or treatment. Always consult with a qualified health provider about any questions or concerns you may have regarding any conditions that trouble you.

5. When listening, simply allow your thoughts, emotions, memories, associations and/or sensations to follow their own course without trying to direct them.

6. If you find your experience to be pleasing or interesting, simply remain open to whatever continues to happen as you listen. It’s also ok if you're not even sure whether or not anything is actually “happening”. As long as you are ok with the process, just keep listening to the music in whatever way works for you.

7. However, if any part of your listening experience becomes uncomfortable or unpleasant, turn the music off and engage in positive self-care. Simply turning the volume down to a lower setting can help as well. With experience you will likely become better able to manage the enhanced neurological activity that you experience with bilateral stimulation.

8. Since the effects of bilateral stimulation can differ among people, or for the same person at different times, it's recommended that you start by listening to just one or two of the selections on this CD to get a sense of their effect on you. Once you are comfortable with the general effects of bilateral stimulation you can become more intentional about how to use it. Feel free to design your own playlist, ordering, repeating or deleting selections in any way that works best for you. You can further customize your personalized listening experience by including selections from “Written on Clouds: Bilateral Music for Healing and Growth”, the first CD from Alternating Sounds.

9. Once you’ve listened to this music enough to be comfortable with its effects on you, an added dimension of effectiveness can be obtained by incorporating specific eye movements into your listening experience. As an example, when listening, hold your gaze steady by looking at something to keep your eyes from moving. Many people notice that the effects of this music reach a whole new dimension of effectiveness with this simple technique. There are many ways to use eye movements during auditory bilateral stimulation, and a brief description of some of these ways is available upon request.

These recordings are being received to high acclaim by initial listeners. For instance, Brainspotting therapist Axel Mecke of Heidelberg, Germany submitted this review:

"These recordings combine slowly changing and shifting musical landscapes with wonderful nature sounds. They have been carefully designed to facilitate deep processing of relevant emotional and biographical contents. They have been designed in close cooperation with therapists using bilateral stimulation (for example in the processing of traumatic experiences), thus they are perfect for use in therapeutic processes. Moreover, many of my patients use bilataral soundscapes to reach deeper levels of relaxation in their everyday life; I am sure they will be delighted to discover these recordings."

So get ready for a listening experience unlike anything you have heard before. Feedback is always welcome
