Album Notes
This album was first released in 2003 and was sold in music stores across Australia and the South Pacific. The tracks were developed by Dr Ferguson over decades of teaching meditation and conducting healing processes with wide-ranging groups of people and individuals. The music of international composer Ken Davis has been selected to enhance each spoken meditation (as detailed further below). Do not listen to this album or individual tracks while driving.

Meditation and relaxation have been found to enhance physical, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Meditation helps the way people feel and think. It has been found to assist people suffering from a wide range of problems including stress management, low self-esteem, poor concentration and performance in all areas of life. Meditation promotes inner peace and contentment, healing, self-connection and a sense of spiritual/existential connection. It can deepen our capacity to love and be loved.

While scientific research has long shown the benefits of meditation to body and mind, now neuroscientists have studied the brain activity of meditators finding that meditation can have lasting effects on the structure and function of the brain due to its neuroplasticity. These changes in the neural pathways in the brain help people to become more resilient and deal with life challenges and painful and stressful situations better, lowering cortisol and adrenalin. (Reference: Matthieu Ricard, Antoine Lutz and Richard J. Davidson. Neuroscience Reveals the Secrets of Meditation’s Benefits, Contemplative practices that extend back thousands of years show a multitude of benefits for both body and mind. Scientific American Volume 311, Issue 5 | Mind October 14, 2014 |10). Consult a health professional if you suspect you suffer from a serious mental or physical problem.

Amanda has been in private practice since 1992 helping people with issues such as mood, behaviour and personality disorders, addictions, existential crisis, relationships, recovery from childhood and trauma, change, grief, work performance and career. Amanda is a classically trained opera singer who turned her back on a promising international singing career to study and practice sound healing, hypnotherapy and psychology.

"Life Works" book by Amanda

The album was produced to compliment Amanda's first self-help book "Life Works: Rediscover Yourself and Transform Your Relationships", published in 2002 by Harper Collins, Sydney Australia (purchase from Oracle Books Mosman, Sydney directly, or order at oracle.com.au, or order as print on demand from any book store. See the following reviews:

“Life Works, is Amanda's self-help manual designed for ordinary people with everyday problems. People who are learning the art of rediscovering themselves and transforming their relationships at home and at work.” Harper Collins, 2003.

“This book has a very important role in meeting the needs of people who will never go to therapy as well as those who do. Amanda’s book will help countless people to demystify therapy, to deal with the fear of what they might find if they go deep within themselves, and to heal from past wounds that they still carry. Life Works provides the tools that will help to manage the pain and ultimately to heal and to recover”. Relationships Australia’s Relationships Australia’s CEO, Anne Hollands, 2003.

“She grabbed my attention…The very clarity of the book is quite deceptive, lulling the reader along into covering the issues easily and steadily so that it is some time before it becomes clear that this book is very different from those that have gone before. …Ferguson is clear; childhood is not a destiny and adults can change the future if not the past.” Professor Allen, Monash University, the Australian Psychological Society, 2003.

“At last, a book about personal growth that that is written by an Australian expert, not an American, and that is free of jargon and full of exercises designed to change habits of thinking and behaviour”. Caroline Baum, Sydney Morning Herald, 2003.
