Album Notes
Amanda Lamprecht better known by her stage name AMANDALA is a Seattle-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in Cape Town, South Africa. AMANDALA self released two experimental solo albums for which she created all the instrumentation herself either by layering vocals with strings or by combining keys with Indian harmonium and drum loops.

After playing in several local Seattle bands and trying to make a break through as an established musician, it was not until 2015 when she teamed-up with producer and co-owner of London Bridge studio, Jonathan Plum that AMANDALA’s music career took off in Seattle. AMANDALA and Jonathan Plum co-wrote “ Far and Wide”. It was recorded and produced by Jonathan Plum at London Bridge studio and mastered by Glenn Schick. The album was released March 30 2016.

Far and Wide combines AMANDALA’s unique voice with music that draws on influences such as Bjork, The Cranberries, Radiohead, Pink Floyd and John Tavener.

Andrew Joslyn, violinist for Macklemore and Davey Brozowski, traveling drummer for Modest Mouse, are among the many world-class players on the album.

AMANDALA is also a painter and she comes from a family of artists.

From a very young age she was encouraged to see and appreciate the beauty and artistry in all things. She was also deeply inspired by the rich fauna and flora, gemstones, metals and cultural diversity of South Africa. As a young child she was taken to many musical performances and started singing in a choir even before she started primary school. Music was always a medium for AMANDALA to transport her to places without boundaries and rules. She recalls, “I would sit motionless when listening to music, feeling it through my skin". AMANDALA is also a practicing yogi and her music embodies a watery quality.

Just as water does not have a form, but it takes the form of its container so her music does not sit in one specific genre but rather capture a fluid mood which is different from song to song. Lyrics embraces themes of equality, observation, encouragement, universal experiences of regret and renewal. It is deeply artistic and colorful and has classical flavors. This all blends well with AMANDALA’S uniquely expressive voice. Her songwriting is deeply emotional.

AMANDALA’s music is art that can be experienced as something that stirs at the core emotions, intuition and heart rather than the intellect.

AMANDALA released her first music video for "NOTHING" which is also the first track from "Far and Wide".
