ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Toronto-based jazz pianist Amanda Tosoff has been steadily gaining
critical acclaim since the release of her debut album Still Life (Cellar
Live 2006). Since then, Tosoff has released two more CDs entitled
Wait and See (2008) and Looking North (2010). Tosoff’s groups have
opened for jazz legends Bobby Hutcherson, Renee Rosnes, Oliver
Jones and Luciana Souza; and her music has been featured on CBC
Radio programs Hot Air, Jazz Beat and Canada Live. Tosoff has also
been featured in world-renowned jazz festivals such the Zacatecas
Jazz and Blues Festival in Mexico, and the Montréal Jazz Festival –
where her group won the General Motors Grand Prix de Jazz in
2009.

Tosoff’s 4th album, entitled Live At the Cellar, was recorded on July
27, 2012 at the Cellar Jazz Club in Tosoff's home town of Vancouver.
Featuring Jodi Proznick on bass and Jesse Cahill on drums, Live
At the Cellar showcases 7 new Tosoff originals and 2 lesser-known
standards from the American song book. As far as style goes, the
music lies somewhere between traditional and modern jazz, with
hints of influence from classical and popular song.
