Album Notes

Performing Songwriter
June 2004
"Sultry and sophisticated cabaret pop with just a whisper of twang that flits in and out like a friendly ghost. The music of Amelia is a staggeringly cool exercise in understatement."

No Depression Magazine
July/August 2004
"Amelia's retro approach to their music, but there's nothing old-fashioned about their playing, songwriting or the smoky confidence of lead singer Teisha Helgerson. The tunes put together by guitarist Scott Weddle and bass player Jesse Emerson cover a wide spectrum, and while they tip their hat to diverse styles, they never sound forced or self-conscious."

Willamette Week
"Lead singer Teisha Helgerson's husky yet smooth vocals and Amelia's Jazz-influenced, ethereal songs manage sexy mystery and quiet desperation reminiscent of the Cowboy Junkies. Though both band's songs are dark and quiet, Amelia's aren't nearly as depressing as the Junkies' - there's light, sweet and amazing light, at the end of Amelia's tunnels."

The Oregonian
"Amelia demonstrates a seamless union of identity, sound and purpose, and the first-rate production allows the band's beauty and brilliance to bloom in full."

Amelia has emerged from studio sessions in their native Portland, Oregon, with a new record entitled "After All." A bittersweet soundtrack to the year following the release of their critically lauded debut, "Somewhere Left to Fall...," the new collection is highly collaborative and carefully crafted, striking a balance between old and new, worldliness and Americana.

Brilliant, just outstanding
It took me 4-5 listens until it suddenly hit me how brilliant this CD really is. Silky smooth vocals, addictive lyrics; I loved their last album but this one actually trumps it. Highly recommended.

Amelia has done it again!!
For real music fans -- it's a must have. Trust me -- you need to buy this album.

Amelia takes their craft to a new level!
Amelia band has risen to new heights! After a brilliant initial effort with Somewhere Left to Fall and its musical theme flowing through every cut, After All treats the listener to different perspectives as each member contributes to song ideas, themes, lyrics, and music.

The result is a CD that goes beyond brilliance and into true genius.

Songs from Amelia speak to our life experiences, soulfully, with keen insight, and a refreshing uniqueness. The very hard work by these folks shines through. No pre-packaged market-tested formulas or electronically stored fluff exists here. Instead, the listener is treated to the fruits of the band's intense labors.

The band debued several cuts off this new album at a recent taping of West Virginia Public Broadcasting's Mountain Stage radio show in Chrleston, WV--to air the end of May. Amelia live is a treat not to be missed.

To hesitate to buy this second CD is to miss a wonderful opportunity to grow along with Amelia, a band of accomplishment, and no doubt about it, continued successes.

These wonderful people saw me after I fell and picked me up off the sidewalk -- and took me to my home. I asked about what they do and they gave me a couple of their albums. I absolutely love their music and they have a new devoted fan.
