Album Notes
American Beauties is an original independent folk-rock and folk-pop band from the thriving indie music scene in Cambridge and Somerville, Massachusetts. The music is reminiscent of the East Coast, LA, and San Francisco folk-rock bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s and mixes both contemporary and roots influences. Many of these can be heard on the album through the guitar-driven melodies, layered harmony vocals, and tasteful pop arrangements reflective of CSNY, The Byrds, The Band, and more contemporary artists such as Wilco and The Jayhawks.

Too Worn To Mend is American Beauties’ debut release. The songs were written and arranged by singer, songwriter, guitarist Michael Gray whose introspective writing style on the album contemplates life’s many challenges and our
reluctance to change.

The record was mixed and recorded by Grammy Award winning engineer Ducky Carlisle (Buddy Guy - Living Proof) at Ice Station Zebra in Medford, Massachusetts and was co-produced by Carlisle and Gray. The album was mastered by Roger Siebel (Decemberists, Death Cab For Cutie) at SEA Mastering in Phoenix, AZ.

Several Boston-area musicians grace the record, many of whom are among the best the city has to offer and are local legends of the live stage and studio. The live band is made up of four long-time friends who met through previous band projects and continue to make inspired indie music and perform compelling live shows as American Beauties.
