Album Notes
"The Americano Social Club is led by Michael Zisman on mandolin and features guitarist Jason Vanderford and bassist Joe Kyle Jr. We play music for "la dolce vita": a mix of romantic and eclectic melodies from all over the world.

At our performances you might hear Pop, Jazz or Folk, Classical, Rock, or Opera, the music of Brazil or of Europe's cafés, (not to mention some of our own dramatic original pieces); and all of it re-imagined so you will hear the melodies you love (or didn’t know you loved) like new again."

For this recording the musicians are:

Michael Zisman – mandolin, Jason Vanderford – guitar, and Joe Kyle Jr. - Bass, Scott Foster Guitar - (Track 5,7,8), Douglas Martin – Guitar (track 2), Rob Reich – Accordion (track 4), Emily Zisman – Vocals (track 10).

One night at dinner, Pat offered this: “A Mal Tiempo, Buena Cara”. Loosely translated to English it means “In bad times, show a good face."... It helped inspire this recording.

• The title track is for Pat, Tita, Dani, Brianna, and all their family; with lots of love!
• "Cecilia’s Smile” is for her to dance and dance and dance….
• “Julie Julie” was written with both Julie Z and our dancer Julie Rea in mind.
• “Charming Angie” is all at once, Mover, Shaker, Dreamer, Doer, “Bad Mommy” and Rock Star…
• “Lightly” is for Marianne who has been there from the start.
• Elise had the good sense to name “Pensativo", as we were too lost in thought to know.

Thank you to the many who contributed to this offering, and thanks to all of you that join us to share music and dance, community, and Love!

Our group evolved from legendary Wednesday nights at the Café Trieste in North Beach in 2010 and has been evolving ever since. We all share a appetite for musical adventure, an admiration of beautiful melodies and a love of entertaining folks. We call this the Americano Social Club as it is more than just about the music. Ours is a community of great musicians, audiences, artists, dancers and more that love to be together and share art, beauty, humor, the other dreams that are this San Francisco life.

We have a number of frequent Americano guest co-conspirators like wonderful vocalists Emily Zisman, Anna Laura Quinn, exciting guitarists Scott Foster and Doug Martin, exciting belly dancers Julie Rea, Kami Liddel, Mira Betz, May Yang, and Rose Hardin and many, many more! We are also amazed and honored at all the fantastic performers that like to join in the fun!
