Album Notes
'Before You' features Edwin Carstensen on guitar, Will Purcell on bass, and Emmett Ceglia on drums. The EP was edited, mixed, and mastered by Eric Thorfinnson. These songs were written by Amy over 10 years ago but have been reworked in 2018 to convey the confusion and emotional complexities surrounding ending relationships as well as grief/loss. Amy is a singer/songwriter, a classically-trained and jazz-trained pianist, classical flautist, and ukulele player whose songwriting combines elements of folk, jazz, rock, pop, and classical music.

Together Eric, Will, and Emmett form three quarters of the progressive metal band Autocatalytica- the final quarter of which was Erik Sorensen- Amy's fiancé and musical partner who tragically passed away in 2015. "The decision to work with these four wonderful musicians on this project was no coincidence. They are each an integral part of the inner circle that was very close to Erik and to myself, and they were all there for me during one of the hardest times of my life, when I lost Erik. The EP will always be incredibly special to me because of that. It represents me starting anew, putting myself back out there, and lifting myself back up after intense sadness. And I could not have done it without their support and contribution." -Amy Beth Anders

Amy's excellent songwriting, arranging, harmonizing and professional musicianship comes through in such a beautiful way for all three songs on this EP. Her voice is so clear and captivating -creating a mesmerizing sound that expresses the emotions of her lyrics and the vibe of each collaborative instrument in the mix. Edwin's guitar work compliments each piece in an intuitive and lovely way - shining in the solo riff near the end of "Greys and Whites". Bass and percussion add such a soft, sweet touch creating the perfect balance of each song. This is a wonderful EP. I'm looking forward to hearing more music from this artist!
