Album Notes
An old musician friend referred to me as a "sound sorceress" years ago, and sometimes introduced me like that to other people. The nickname lasted longer than the friendship. I don't keep it around just for convenience, or for shock value. I use my songs to help stitch up the holes in life itself, though not to pretend that the holes were never there.

I started writing songs in high school. But I never played them. Nobody heard them. I was afraid.

The first time I heard "Ramble On" from Led Zeppelin II, I felt I had surrendered my virginity. I was in grad school. I began to dig my piano skills out of the dumpster once I felt the pain of my soul dying for Zep's Valhalla. And then the writing started in earnest.

Rock made room for soul and folk and even gospel - but make no mistake, it's not the kind of gospel your preacher proclaims.

I've borrowed from Zep, as well as from Alicia Keys, John Mellencamp, Carole King, and Tori Amos. I've also absorbed some of the Motown sound of Detroit, the smooth flexibility of the Great American Songbook, and kept true to my classical roots by directing and singing in choirs.

The highest thing I desire for my music is that it makes a difference for people. If you're here, and you've read this far, then I hope I'm on my way toward doing that.

Let's go further together.

Sound Sorcery--It's a Good Thing
Amy's lyrics are polished and direct, and she brings them to us with soulful vocals that are right on the money. The six songs on this all-too-short album deliver a powerful spiritual message that is both energizing and uplifting. This is serious, profound music that never loses its light touch.
