Album Notes
Andréa L'Heureux - Hymns For Her

This long awaited debut CD from singer/songwriter Andréa L'Heureux contains 10 original and traditional songs of love, loss and inspiration, celebrating the sacred in the day to day and the power of music, compassion and the Divine Feminine to heal the heart and uplift the spirit.

Produced by Valley Hennell with engineer Anthony Maki at EtchedInSound studio, Protection Island, BC. Previous CDs work by this award winning team has been honored with Canadian Folk Music, Western Canadian Music, Parents' Choice and NAPPA Gold Awards.

Mother of two young children and an Occupational Therapist at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, Andréa began singing as a child solo and in choirs and churches in Saskatchewan. Her writing and song selection reflect her interest in classical, sacred and popular music.

Born in Melfort and raised in Estevan and Moose Jaw, Andréa earned a BMROT at the Universities of Saskatchewan and Manitoba before leaving to travel and eventually heading West in 2001. Her parents who inspired this CD still reside in Moose Jaw.

The musicians on this CD span 3 generations, from folk veteran Rick Scott, on whose recordings Andréa has been featured for a decade; rock veteran Doug Edwards who composed Wildflower and currently tours with legendary Canadian band Chilliwack; string virtuoso Trish Clair; to 24 year old prodigy Nico Rhodes who is in high demand across Canada as player, arranger and musical director.

REVIEW: "I’m loving this album, it's in the running for Best Album of the Year, Best New Artist. Andrea's voice has a purity about it, transmits such feeling, unique like Edith Piaf or Joan Baez, tender like Loreena McKenna, with a range of intensity like EmmyLou Harris. And the total sound of the musical accompaniment - the arrangements are incredible, so evocative, a perfect match to Andrea’s voice." Fred S, Protection Island

A true folk masterpiece
The more I listen to this album, the more I fall in love with it! Every song touches a different part of my heart and I feel as though Andrea L'Heureux moves my soul with her voice and her lyrics. I find myself crying one minute and dancing around with joy the next. What a beautiful piece of art this album is… a must have for all folk and singer/songwriter music fans!

Corazón profundo, voz clara
I've listened to the CD so often I've practically memorized the lyrics, often bringing a tear or two. Go To The Moon is such a beautiful good bye. Loose Stitches is an amazing portrayal of the mental agony we succumb to when we fall into self-judgment. All the other songs are also so beautiful, the more I listen the more I love and find myself singing them. Such a talented artist Andréa, thank you so much for this beautiful gift! I treasure it.
