If you are into singer-songwriters such as Elliot Smith or Aimee Mann, well then, "YOU NEED THIS CD!" Every Andrea Perry CD is a gem, and "Four" is definitely my favorite album of the year. The song writing and production is so ridiculously strong, and her vocals are so perfectly sublime - if not dreamy. This album ranks very, very high in my collection and there is no praise that can match how great she really is! This is masterclass performance at it's zenith. I love her music!!

This is why I love music
About a year ago, I was watching random, animated shorts on Youtube, like you do, and came across and interesting comedy called Devils, Angels and Dating. It was entertaining enough to keep me going until the credits and that's when I first heard an Andrea Perry song. It caught my attention right away. The lyrics were sweet and intelligent, the voice, warm and friendly. It reminded me of Aimee Mann in a way. That same kind of heartfelt connection to the song, not just a performance. The production was precise, but not nit picky; spare but not barren. I must have listened to it 5 times in a row! Right away I knew whoever was doing this song had something special. I googled the name and eventually found Andrea's Kickstarter page for "FOUR". I'm embarrassed to say I didn't back her, financially, right then and there, but when it came out I DID buy the CD. I've just listened to it AGAIN for the third time in a row! It is, without a doubt, the best CD I have heard in many, many years. I'm not saying that as a passive listener either. I've been a recording studio owner, an audio engineer as well as a singer/songwriter for my entire adult life, I'm 54 now, and this is the kind of song collection that got me interested in songwriting in the first place. For me, there's just something magical about great songs when they are combined with excellent production. And THAT's what you'll find on FOUR! Andrea does with her songs what very few people are capable of doing; she's given them real life. There is something here greater than the sum of the parts. Sure, all the parts are excellent, as well as masterfully put together, but Andrea has done nothing less here than create magic. If you want to be transported by song, in the way that you were back when albums ruled, buy this CD. Like The Beatles, Andrea doesn't simply makeover the same song with different chord changes. No. Each song IS different. I know this is going to be one of my favorite CD's for the rest of my life and I'm sure it will have the same effect on anyone else! Get it!
