Album Notes
"From Foreign People and Countries", based on Robert Schumann's masterpiece from "Kinderszenen" (Scenes of a Childhood), is part of Andreas Kern's journey to connect classical music with contemporary style. Expanding on Schumann's original score, Andreas Kern uses his unique musical language to give the piece a lighter and more stylish feel.

Andreas Kern is a German pianist and composer who thrives on celebrating classical music in unconventional ways. A straightforward recording of Beethoven and Schumann has never been of interest to him. Instead, he set out to find his own, unique sound by using classical masterpieces as an inspiration to create more contemporary works of music. His recordings use the exquisite natural reverb of a recital hall to give the listener the true sense and enjoyment of a classical concert performance.

“Dream. Create. Stay Curious.” Andreas Kern

Cool! Thanks for bringing classical into the here and now!

This piece beautifully incorporates passages of Schumann’s original but then travels way beyond them in an enchanting and wonderfully playful way. Love it!
