ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Award winning Segovia-trained guitarist/composer Andre Feriante has performed for over 30 years in Europe, South America, and the United States. Beginning with his first concert in Rome in 1979, he has introduced a sensual and contemporary sound to an otherwise traditional genre. His creative blend of classical, flamenco and Brazilian styles speaks to people from all walks of life. In recent years, Andre has garnered rave reviews for applying his innovative approach and guitar mastery to the ukulele and nylon-stringed banjo. Andre’s concerts will take you on an inspiring musical journey with original music, classical and jazz standards, vocals in Italian, and poetry over guitar. He is well known for his calm stage presence and ability to connect with his audience on a deep emotional level. Andre has released 13 solo recordings in his career— the latest two albums are ‘Novella, Ukulele Mosaique’ and ‘Beatles Masquerade’. Andre hopes that the passionate and sometimes meditative qualities in his songs will bring listeners inward to see our similarities as humans, creating more peace and ease in our world.

The Players:

I also want to acknowledge the amazing performers whose musical talents are woven throughout this album: Anil Prasad on Tabla (most tracks), Clipper Anderson on Bass (tracks 6,11,14 &16), Steve Kim on fretless Bass (track 2), Michel Navedo on Trumpet (track #3), Eric Fridrich (Bass Harmonica #13, electric guitar #4), Serena Tideman on Cello (track #7), Jason Everett on Bass (track #8).

The Story....

About a year ago I set out to create an ensemble album.

I have a group called 'The Bohemian Entourage', it consists of

multiple guitars and string sounds, tabla, bass and the occasional

musical guest. We also have the talented flamenco dancer, Stella

Rossi from Paraguay in our group.

The concept of this project is 'in the moment playing' I believe in the magic

of conversational music. It is music that is easy to be with, there is a lot

to say in the space and silence between notes and phrases. There are

fiery and intense moments as well but the thread that weaves its way

thru this album is that of a mysterious story, a night of wonder and

sounds that transport you to places of beauty.

This is a very unique project because of the amount of exotic string

sounds that are introduced in the hour and ten minuet journey, the

nylon string banjo, the charango, the harp guitar... in addition the -

the bass harmonica, cello, trumpet, tenor vocals and I have to mention

the amazing tabla mastery of Anil Prasad who plays on almost every song.

The album also moves between many musical styles, classical, folk,

flamenco, Brazilian and jazz. Several of the songs are 100%, in the

moment improvisations, I love the power and freedom of this kind of

playing, a 'musical Jackson Pollock' so to speak.

I released my first album thirty years ago, it has been an amazing

journey of learning on many levels. Now after ten solo guitar album,

a singer song-writer project, a poetry cd and a ukulele album I'm finally

releasing band/group project. I'm very happy with amount of dimension,

texture, musical timber and story telling presented in the Terra de Eros.

I am honored to have had several of the best musician in the Northwest

join me on this record, their sounds and personalities create a large part

of the magic that happens in these songs.

Lastly, the older I get the more my mission with art and music is to

give joy, healing and love to the world, to help us see the beauty and

connection around us regardless of our differences. Music, the guitar

are just the instruments, an intention of love, mystery and honor are

at the core of my compositions.

I hope you enjoy 'Terra de Eros' Land of Love.
