ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is a 16 song Cultural Jazz journey utilizing traditional rhythms such as mambo, rumba, samba, soca, mozambique and guaguanco. These Latin, Caribbean, Brazilian, and African dance rhythms are flavored with unique spicy original compositions featuring piano, flute, piccolo, alto sax, trumpet, steel drum, (pan), bass, and lots of fiery percussion. It is a dedication to all the great musicians I've played with from Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Africa and Brazil. I also have a few dedicated songs to Jazz Greats that have inspired and influenced me such as "MozamBrubeck", a Mozambique rhythm with an original piano groove reminiscent of some of Dave Brubeck's stuff, and" Miles Trials" a tribute to Miles Davis's burn out period. This primarily instrumental album starts off spicy developing into more introspective pieces with a touch of fusion ending in more primal African references. I hope it takes you there! Thanks, Andy Cook.
