Album Notes
Hope Addicts frontman, Andrew McCubbin, is a singer whose intimate breath fills our sails with songs of love and reverence and Stay is McCubbin at his best. Great pop hooks, galloping beat, triumphant chorus and swelling emotion.

He is a knight riding in on his electric guitar to save us from the hollowness of the 21st century.

Stay features the dueting vocals of McCubbin and Melinda Kay, Andy Papadopoulos (Ron Peno / Horace Andy (Massive Attack)) on bass and Chris Hughes (Mick Harvey / Hugo Race) on drums.

Andrew’s music has received the accolades of “Single of the Week” and “Single of the Year” for songs such as “The Fog Song”, “The Last Breeze” and “Blue” as well as “Album of the Week” for his debut solo album, “Dead Pilot” and his album “Hope Addicts” on Beaudesert Radio and Syn Fm respectively.

He is the bravest of songwriters – daring to whittle a song down to its barest essence until you can only feel its heartstring vibrating.

His music is a dusk to dawn journey that evokes Eric the Red, Mark Lanegan, Astral Weeks, Viennese waltzes, Leonard Cohen and Chakra meditations.

He has marked out his space – a singular vision of the romantic songwriter working in stripped back post rock minimalism.

Andrew has also been a part of other acts such as Black Cab, Phillipa Nihil (Underground Lovers) and Penny Ikinger (Wet Taxis). His bands have supported acts such as M Ward (USA), Adrian Belew (David Bowie / Frank Zappa), The Creatures (UK), The Cruel Sea, Hugo Race and Conway Savage (Bad Seeds).

“You’d be easily convinced he was actually some hidden treasure from London’s rich musical backdrop.”
