ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This music on this album is a distilled compilation of the tracks featured in the original musical score from Bicicles, the movie that explores the daily experiences of bicycle commuters in the winter. Composed by Andrew Spencer, a young musician and audio engineer from Calgary, Canada, the music is gentle and uplifting in nature. The score is composed of cyclical parts that represent the metaphor of a wheel and it uses thematic devices that are tied to the film's protagonists. Dialogue clips from anecdotes and insights of these protagonists are featured in Track 3 "Ride Your Bike to Work" to hint at the positive messages told in Bicicles, the movie. The arc of the album mirrors the cycle of the day, beginning with the swelling opening track "Bicicles," and closing on a Reprise of the same themes that decrescendos into silence. The instrumentation of the album primarily consists of guitar, mallets, piano, and strings, with the support of sparse percussion and various electronic instruments.
