ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
As one of LA’s most sought-after guitarists and session players, Andrew Synowiec (“Sin-o-wick”) has contributed to over 25 Grammy-nominated recordings including his own 2015 Grammy win as a member of the acclaimed big band, Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band. He has recorded with some of the biggest names in music including Seal, Michael Bublé and Barbra Streisand and performed on many of the most successful movies of the past decade like The Greatest Showman, Coco and Frozen (including the infectious song “Let It Go”). Now, Andrew’s guitar takes center stage with his debut full- length album Second Story. Produced by John Paterno (Robben Ford, Steve Gadd), the entire album was recorded in just 6 hours at a historic Hollywood recording studio. Andrew’s band features one of his heroes, session guitar legend Tim Pierce on guitar in both lead and accompanying roles along with Sean Hurley (John Mayer) on bass and Fred Kron on keys. Dual drummers Blair Sinta (Alanis Morissette, Chris Cornell) and Jake Reed deliver a simultaneous performance in the style of the Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead, laying the foundation for this psychedelic sound bath.

Second Story has received early praise from Steve Vai, who says: “I really like the sound of this record. It has an analog feel and total group dynamic. Andrew’s tone is off the hook beautiful and the guitar is presented on a silver platter. I also love the daring nature of his melodies and solos. Amazing technique, feel, tone, note choice and phrasing. This is such an impressive sounding and performed record. Feels like Andrew and the boys were actually having a lot of fun with it.”

"Already Taken" hearkens back to the 1970's, melding equal parts NYC after-hours jam session with Laurel Canyon's golden-era folk scene. Andrew's guitar sings with presence and authority. Watch it being recorded live here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Asr9IWyWRYA

“Triad Days” brings together the best elements of 70's instrumental rock fused with hip-hop beats and modern harmony. A feeling of true musical dialogue exudes from the speakers as the listener is taken on a dynamic ride. See the video for “Triad Days”: https://www.youtube.com/watch? v=rJCPzQJq4Qo

“Albuquerque Blues” was written for legendary session guitarist Tim Pierce. Andrew says, “I was so thrilled that Tim agreed to join me for this project and I wanted to write something for him that felt instantly familiar.” Watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwxVtRuufU8

“Second Story” Psychedelic overtones and dueling drummers are a throw-back to the sounds of the '60s. Andrew adds, "It's Hendrix attitude married to Steely Dan harmonies." Watch it here: https:// www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmkfSRrTYo4
