ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
I recorded Lotus Eaters with friends back in 1990 in Los Angeles. It is a joyful reggae-inspired romp. It was never released - a horrible unethical record label (back then, they were the only way to get your music out there) was slated to release it, and abandoned us at the end, to my everlasting gratitude. Now, many years later, I'm releasing selections of this recording as an archive from my past. Since they are from an earlier time, the sound is not current, but I did my best using modern tools to make it sound good!

Another interesting note, perhaps. When I was with LAGQ (Los Angeles Guitar Quartet), one of the labels we recorded for was Sony Classical, in the late 1990's. I was asked by our producer there to make an arrangement of Lotus Eaters for guitar quartet for our second recording with Sony. I was reluctant, knowing Lotus Eaters would not sound as dynamic and rich for four guitars as it did in the original band track. But I did make the arrangement, which was released on our Sony CD "Air and Ground" in 2000. Lotus Eaters became very popular as a guitar quartet piece, and is still one of my most performed ensemble works all over the world. And now, it's my pleasure to release the original track, with full band, as I intended it. I hope you enjoy the spirit of Lotus Eaters!
