ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
What CD reviewers have said......

" While Andy Griffiths studied architecture in his younger days, music always held a passion for him. He’d graduate, become an architectural designer, start a family and even travel the world – but for the last 20 some odd years he’s also been fashioning a music career from his Burlington home. After years of slugging it out in a covers dominated scene, Griffiths has stepped out into the spotlight to offer his all original debut CD ( ‘Looking At A Life.’ ). "

"Griffiths...offers his first CD that comes off more mature than most. ‘Looking At A Life’ is a pop–rock album with a grittier edge on a life well lived – with a sound that could bring comparisons to Bob Dylan or even the Lowest of the Low."

"Griffiths has a knack for writing songs for the everyman..... "
Quotes from an interview with Ric Taylor for the View Magazine, Sept 22, 2011.

“The album has been a year in the works,” he explained. “Music is a passion for me. I love writing and performing. I can’t help myself.”
Quote from an interview with Kathryn Dunmore for the Burlington Post, Sept 16, 2011.

"Songs like the title track, Bare Bones, Don't Listen to Me, and many others are incredibly infectious. This high energy never overpowers the solid folk foundation of the tunes."
Quote from a review by Lou of the Hamilton Blues Lovers, Nov 1, 2011.

"Griffiths has emotional heft as well, as witnessed by the subtle, more acoustic leaning Bear With Me and She Goes (Thru The Market Place). But the real winner is the folky, anthemic Lend A Hand which could easily pass as a Gordon Lightfoot song. It’s rolling, dynamic and mesmerizing. "
Quote from a review by Jaimie Vernon for Cashbox Magazine, Nov 4, 2011.

ANDY is a pop rock / folk singer/songwriter who writes from gut feeling and personal experience.
He draws on influences from the Beatles, Crowded House, Lee Harvey Osmond (Tom Wilson), the Verve, Tom Petty..... just to name a few.

Andy is presently having a blast playing great places like the STUDIO at Hamilton Place, Liberty Bistro, Free Times Cafe, C'est What!, the Moonshine Cafe, CJ's Cafe, Sarah's, Fitzgerald's, Dave's, the West Town Bar, the West End Pub, Ceileh House, Hugh's Room, Flyers Cafe, Bohemian Fridays, the Waltz Live....., Private functions and parties, Toronto Roots Festival (2010), the Winter Folk Festival (2010 & 2011), Bronte Autumn Festival (2010), Hamilton Guitar Association, Kitchener Peace Festival (2010 & 2011 and numerous other fun venues...
Combine that with numerous previous Festival appearances at the Oakville Waterfront Festival ‘95 to ’00, Burlington Sound of Music Festival ‘95 to ‘99, Oshawa Canada Day Celebrations, Oakville Midnight Madness, several all ages shows, and, of course, the (painfully early) morning ‘BREAKFAST TELEVISION’

His new Album 'LOOKING AT A LIFE' is now out and is being very well received!! It mixes pop rockers and touching ballads.
The fine musicians who have contributed to this Album include....Ray Lyell (vocal coach - Ray Lyell and the Storm), Mark Kelso (drums - Hilario Duran), Russ Boswell (bass - Corey Hart, Parachute Club), Frank Koren (guitars), Phil Kane (guitars & flute), Lawrie Ingles (keys - Elton Rohn tribute), Alvin Lapp (drums - the Quakes, Googoo Dolls), Noah Zacharin (guitars), Ray Farrugia (drums - Junkhouse, Lee Harvey Osmond), Steve Didunyk (piano, accordion) and Astrid Young (backing vocals).

Reviewers have drawn similarities in Andy's music to Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Gordon Lightfoot, Lowest Of the Low, John Mellancamp.....etc.

Andy really enjoys performing LIVE .... either solo or with his band in venues large and small. Indoors and Outdoors.
What ever the case, it's always a good time!

Andy looks forward to playing for you!
