ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
“Their performances are highlighted by the quality of their vocal work, each individually and joined together with beautiful
harmonies”
Rick's Music World
Dragonfly, the second release from this talented folk duo, can be thought of as a collection of stories drawn from personal experience and imaginative wanderings. Songs of family, travel, tragedy and social conscience are put together in one stirring and thought provoking compilation. With each track on the CD, Andy &Judy demonstrate their command of the musical styles of folk, traditional and country.

“Thank you for participating in our Herring Run Festival at the Plimoth Grist Mill. Your original music performances delighted
the guests and helped to create an even more festive atmosphere for all who came. Thank You!”
Courtney Roy-Branigan, Director of Development, Plimoth Plantation

Track number 1 on the CD is "Family". This song reminds us that family stories and oral histories are the ties that bind us to our past. Remember to "take time to listen to the stories".
The thoughts of a woman who lost her love at sea drives "The Tide" (track 2). The haunting melody is made real by Judy's beautiful vocals which draw the listener into this woman's experience.
There is a comfort in knowing that family members that have passed on are always with us in some form. "Dragonfly" speaks of finding the ever-present and everlasting love a mother brings to her child on the sparkling wings of a dragonfly.
"Whiskey Joe", (track 4), is a sort of love song. It tells the tale of an outlaw on the run and the woman he left behind back on the farm.
"Make the Difference" (track 5) is a letter from one classmate to another apologizing from not coming to her defense when she was being bullied. "If we all try to help each other instead of tearing down, the world would be a better place for us to be" is the message of the song and the writer vows to "make the difference for all to see"
Every folk act needs a rail song (or so we have been told) and On That Rail (track 6) is Andy & Judy's rail song. This lively song will bring you on a journey with a hobo as he "bums across this country" riding the rails.
Random acts of kindness is the theme of track 7 "Starting Right Now". Andy & Judy use this song as a sing-a-long in their live act as it has a catchy, repetitive chorus. - "Starting right now practice random acts of kindness. Starting right now make someone smile. Starting right now help someone who needs it. Small things can change the world and we can start right now".

“Just stumbled on you this afternoon, drawn by your gorgeous music. Thank you for the unexpected gift in my day.”

Track 8, "Slow to Mend" is a broken heart song with a country ballad sound. Lost love is painful and "a broken heart is slow to mend as it learns to trust again". We have all felt this way at some point in our lives making it easy for us to picture ourselves as we listen.
"Give That Love to Me' is another broken heart song with an upbeat country sound. This tells the story from the point of view of a woman scorned and how she she is moving on from her no good boyfriend to someone who will treat her better.
Track 10 is a song written about the love a mother has for her son. "Every single day you put a smile on my face".
The final track on the CD, "Fairtytale" is a song inspired by all the Disney princess movies that have come out . This upbeat fairytale tells the story of a kidnapped princess who keeps asking "where is my prince who will save me with his kiss?"

Each song on this CD creates a different emotion and the musical journey that you will be brought on is one that you will want to take over and over again.

And, of course, this says it all!
"I would pay to listen to Judy sing the Yellow Pages!”
Robert J. Constantine, Director, Four Spires Concert Series
