Album Notes
The Andy Shaw Band comes from Columbus, Ohio, and is quickly making their mark in the region. This unique blend of rock, reggae, jazz, and blues, is quickly catching listeners eager for a fresh sound.

Andy Shaw comes from the Columbus area, where he grew up playing jazz and classical trumpet around town. At the age of 18 he went to school at the famed University of North Texas to study Jazz. After a year at UNT, Shaw found himself more inspired by words and melodies, leading him to progress into songwriting. He took his vast knowledge of music and training and started creating his own sound with his guitar and voice. Later he would find himself in Chicago at Columbia College, writing and performing as much as he could around the city. In 2004 Andy returned to Columbus to begin working on putting his band together. It would be the start of a new level of creativity in his life.

After moving to Columbus,Shaw added brother Chris Shaw on drums, father Jim Shaw on keys, and good friend Bobby Wildermuth on Bass. Chris and Bobby both saw years of success in their band Fenetiks, and Jim Shaw had over 45 years of experience. The band immediately made an impact in Columbus performing at the Columbus Arts Festival, Rubys on Summit, Little Brothers, and Skullys Music Diner. The additions solidified the sound, and after their first album, The Relay Sessions EP was greatly recieved, the band headed back into the studio in the summer of 2006. The new CD is a sign of growth and passion, as the band is constantly writing and performing. The band is eager to spread their sound around the midwest and country as they continue relishing in the live performance of their work.

I used to personally know Andy. He's a great person who knows his music very well. Because I knew him I was privileged to hear hours of unreleased material and see him live on countless occasions. His music is genuine, real, and like no other. He does not write or play any of it. It is written by his soul and played through him by a cosmic force. He is merely a vessel through which every note is given the gift of life. Every single second of music I've ever heard him play was just as good as the last. Whether it be a professional recording or him messing around with his guitar in his apartment I really felt as though he was connected to the music on a higher level. Listen to his music, do not hear it...listen to it. I just wish there were more recordings of his early days than the the three amateur ones I made years ago. Maybe someday they'll be available as they give a further insight into his musical career. You won't be disappointed with this album as I am sure you won't be disappointed with any of his music recorded or live.
