Album Notes
It all started in the early ‘80s when Hillary Carlip created the character of Angel as a parody, and ended up launching a hit musical career.

Meet ANGEL, who landed in County Jail for a “minor offense.” While in the slammer, Angel watched a lot of TV and became obsessed with reruns. Angel saw the light in the old shows and became dedicated to spreading the word of a return to a time when life was simpler and people were kinder.

She picked three other inmates to be her backup singers and the jailbirds turned songbirds forming Angel and the Reruns, the All Girl, all Ex-Con band.

Upon release from jail they recorded a single, which Hillary co-wrote with musician Miriam Cutler, who produced the songs. Hillary started her own record label, selling
Angel’s records out of her living room until she got a distributor. As "In Touch" magazine said: “Even without a major label Angel and the Reruns have managed to get one of their recordings onto the charts all around the country.”

“Buffy Come Back,” Angel’s controversial anti-drug ode to
Buffy from the '60s TV show "Family Affair" whose portrayer sadly overdosed when she was a teenager, became an instant hit. It rose to the number one requested song on L.A.’s famed radio station KROQ, and stayed there for over 5 months. The song got national and international airplay as did the flip side of the 45, “Beaver Cleaver Fever.”

Angel and the Reruns performed in famous '80s punk clubs throughout Los Angeles, and appeared on several TV shows
including "Dance Fever" and "Thicke of the Night." They also appeared with Tom Hanks in the '80s classic film "Bachelor Party," with two songs on the soundtrack album, and had a song featured in the movie "Grandview USA," with Patrick Swayze and Jamie Lee Curtis.

With the release of her memoir, "Queen of the Oddballs:
And Other True Stories from a Life Unaccording to Plan"
(HarperCollins, 2006) Hillary thought the time was right to bring back Angel and the Reruns.

After all, they’re now reruns themselves.

Great, fun songs!
A CD full of fun songs that I can't stop singing throughout the day(especially the Buffy one).

Fun party record which should have been released years ago
The production varies through the disc but the music is fun and the lyrics funnier. Just wish I.R.S. had picked them up and properly produced a release for them. The disc reminds me very much of Julie Brown's output from the same time period (early 80's). The disc is worth the price for the first song alone.

A Party In Your Player
After years of licking up crumbs, a song here and a song there, now the feast.

Ode to Mrs. Kravits and Buffy Come Back my new favorites. All fun and no dumb! A happy party in your player.

I had been trying to track down a couple of these songs for the longest time. It's great to finally be able to hear them again!
