ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"...One day, all too soon, she'll grow up and she'll leave her dolls and her prince and her silly old bear"...a tale telling Gene Lees lyric from Bill Evans' famed piece "Waltz For Debby," is one that truly captures the spirit of this album. As the daughter of a musician, Angel grew up in an environment saturated with music and creative influence.  As the child of two immigrants, who believe anything is possible, she has been unconditionally supported and taught to always live her passion. These songs and this project is a complete complication of the amazing artistic lessons and influences that have shaped her, the beautiful music that has undoubtedly moved her and a reflection of the transition she has made from not just being a musician's daughter, but to becoming one on her own.

With arrangements by Angel's father, Maurice Spicca, he is also featured on piano along with four other of Chicago's finest...Jim Cox on bass, Andy Brown on guitar, Rusty Jones on drums and Eric Schneider sprinkling in various woodwinds. All in all a fantastic musical combination that shines on every track.

"Angel is, in a word, gorgeous, with a captivating fresh-face allure and personality that can immediately draw the attention of an audience. But it is her vocal skills, including voice, timing, and phrasing far exceeding what could be expected from one so young - that allow her to keep that attention for the duration of her performance.
Angel can perform often-heard jazz standards and put her own mark on them without "re-inventing the wheel".
-Randy Freedman of the Chicago Jazz Magazine.
