Translation by Ani Maldjian

The American-Armenian Soprano has been described as “Sensational, radiant, elegant, commanding, brilliant, and strong.” –The LA Times. She has performed over 35 roles with companies such as Long Beach Opera, Seattle Opera, Atlanta Opera, Opera Santa Barbara, and Opera Theatre Ireland. Ms. Maldjian is internationally known for her critically acclaimed portrayal as Anne in "The Diary of Anne Frank." This one-woman opera has brought Ani recognition and success all over the US, UK, Europe and Republic of Ireland since 2007. The LA Times wrote, "Discovering talent like Maldjian's is no easy feat." She won 1st Place at the Western Region Metropolitan Opera Competition in 2005. In the non-operatic world, Ani has been featured as a vocalist on Serj Tankian’s (lead singer of “System of a Down”) solo albums, Buckethead’s latest album, and the soundtracks of “Eve and the Firehorse” and “Curious George: Sock Monkey Opera.”

Musician, composer, conductor, pianist and orchestrator, Greg Hosharian began playing the piano at the age of four, when his father, composer/conductor Edward Hosharian, became his first music teacher. Greg has toured as a keyboardist with the progressive rock band Redemption across Europe and North America, opening for Dream Theater. He has also formed three bands of his own in which he plays the keyboard: Vendetta, Hosharian Brothers Band and Armenian Space Station. Greg founded The Armenian Pops Orchestra in 2010.

Greg and Ani met at Cal Arts in 2000 during their musical studies and immediately became great friends. They have collaborated together in performances, concerts and recordings. Recording this song was a meaningful experience for Greg and Ani, because this particular lullaby has great significance for them. It is not only a beautiful piece of music but also a nostalgic one.
