Ms. Fisher has blazed many new trails in recorded and live music. Mastering two very difficult double reed instruments, she has moved the oboe and English horn into styles of music that it is seldom heard.
Having studied classical music with some of the greatest legends, Leonard Bernstein, Isaac Stern, Seiji Ozawa she has always had a strong love for the classics but when she stepped away from the orchestra it was Jazz, Reggae and R&B that most inspired her! Actually she loves all styles and is most impressed when artists sing the truth to help humanity better serve itself.
***** She'd heard Paul McCandless' flawless oboe with Oregon, Paul Winter and throughout Loggins and Messina's "Mother Lode" album as well as in Curtis Mayfield's "Superfly" she could also hear it in Sonny and Chers' "I Got You" and a slight few other Golden Oldies especially Smokey Robinson. Although she was studying for a bachelors degree in oboe she felt a calling to take oboe outside the usual parameters. Shortly after that she was introduced to the oboe stylings of Wind Specialist, Yusef Lateef. Since she wasn't hearing the double reeds in the kind of music she enjoyed as much as she'd like, she decided the time is now to be the difference she wished to hear in her own compositions. Her first song that she wrote with Vincent Licata, "Break the Silence - Stop the Violence" was played on many, many radio stations throughout Hawaii even before it was mastered! Her new sound has fast become popular, as major commercial radio stations and television shows have embraced her willingly!
***** A delightful concoction of tropical island music with hauntingly beautiful key changes soulfully sung through her horns that is guaranteed to paint rainbow on your heart.
***** Besides blowing two horns, Anna sings, composes, arranges, teaches and produces. This CD, a collaboration with keyboardist Jawge Hughes of St. Thomas US Virgin Islands as well as many Reggae legends was released in 2004.
***** Fulfilling a childhood dream, she moved to Hollywood in 1995 to promote her music and has had the opportunity to work with such notable music legends as, Dick Clark, Quincy Jones, Paul Jackson, Jr., Barbara Morrison, Linda Hopkins, Billy Mitchell, Ernie Andrews, John B. Williams, John Bolivar, Lou Taylor, Phil Wright Trio, Phil Ranelin, John Hammond, Ed Townsend "Let's Get It On" "For Your Love", Surface, Joe Higgs, John Holt, The Wailers Band (Bob Marley's Band), Marcia Griffiths ("Electric Slide Boogie" and Bob Marley & The Wailers), Frankie Paul, Cuba Gooding, Sr.from the Main Ingredient; "Everybody Plays The Fool", "Just Don't Want To Be Lonely", Brenton Wood "Gimme Little Sign", "Oogum Boogum", Charles Wright, "Express Yourself", Los Angeles Lakers' Star, Kobe Bryant, Ali Woodsen (Temptations), H.B. Barnum, Rembert James and the list goes on and on.
She finds time to sit in with some of her favorite Jazz artists; Hubert Laws, Barbara Morrison, John B. Williams, Onaje Murray and Ndugu Chancler at many of the local clubs in Los Angeles when she's not touring.
***** Her styles include, Classical, Jazz, Reggae, R&B, Pop and Latin. A visionary for World Peace and Justice helping make the world a brighter place. ***** When not touring she's played Los Angeles Convention Center, Arrowhead Pond Arena, The Roxy Theater, West Hollywood House of Blues, B.B.King's Live Universal Citywalk, Hollywood Park Casino, Great Western Forum, Los Angeles Sports Arena, Catalina's Bar & Grill, Hal's Bar and Grill, Wyndham Bellage, Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Loews Santa Monica, Malibu Inn, Coach House Santa Barbara. Additionally, in her vision for World Peace and Freedom, she's performed for Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Zoo, Los Angeles Public Libraries, Los Angeles City Dept. of Recreation and Parks, Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Unified School District, School Nurse Organization of So. California, Soberlink, I-ADARP, Alternatives To Violence, Drive By Agony, Victim Awareness Day Nelles School for Boys (CYA), Mother's Without Their Children March, Violence Coalition of Greater Los Angeles, Good Shepherd Shelter, Women's Care Cottage, Safety Zone, Women's Coalition of St. Croix and Women's Resource Center St. Thomas, The Cell (Benefit for Sickle Cell Anemia Research) to name a few.
Nominate for a Grammy with Jamaica's Third World Band, named Joe Higgs Music International Artist and Who's Who Among America's Teachers. Winning many awards including those from the City of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, California Legislature, Los Angeles Unified School District, Los Angeles Police Department, National University, Soberlink Foundation, , Mid-City Chamber of Commerce, Community Education Foundation and the School Entertainment and Activities Program for her contributions.

I really like it!
Wow! I really like the sound of this CD. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 just because of the vocals. I just want to hear Anna play.

CARIB PRESS - Justine Ketola

Yin Yang evokes emotions of lands far away.
Two veterans of the L.A. music scene, Anna Fisher, the masterful oboist and Jawge Hughes, Sr., the accomplished keyboardist, programmer and engineer, collaborate together on this well structured set. Musicians also featured on this album are Tony Chin, Fully Fullwood, Dale Hauskins, Marcia Higgs, Odel Johnson, and Lesterfari.
There are elements of jazz, soca, R&B, and steel pan keyboard sounds with a delicate seasoning of tasteful bells and other unique reggae keyboard elements. Several songs have dub versions which serve as gentle reminders of the companion songs heard earlier in the set. The lead tracks, a bright cover of Horace Silver's "Song For My Father"
and Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" (and its Spanish version sung by Anna) have a smooth Jazz feel.
St. Thomas-native Jawge contributes original writing on the title track and then moves into a reggae vibe with "Jamaica" which has a sort of melancholy energy to it. The sound of the oboe lends itself to this feeling and evokes emotions of lands far away.

The BEAT - Chuck Foster

Yin Yang a pleasurable outing!
Anna Fisher and Jawge Hughes - she of the reggae oboe and he who balances a solo career with keyboard duties in the Fully Fullwood band - are paired on the very interesting Yin Yang (Molin Music) with guests including the aforementioned Fully Fullwood, Tony Chin, Marcia Higgs, Lesterfari, Dale Hauskins, and Odel Johnson. Mainly an
instrumental release featuring Anna's jazzy leads and Jawge's keys and programming the guests offer spicy solos like Marcia's "Hip Hop Hooray Oh" with Tony Chin's distinctive guitar in particular featured on about half the tracks. Cornerstone cuts include instrumental and vocal versions of Johnny Nash's "I Can See Clearly Now" with Anna
doing the vocal as well as oboe honors (the song is also delivered in Espanol as "Puedo Ver Claro"), and instrumental "Life In The Arena" reworking a foundational Jamaican riddim, original riddims from Jawge and a tasty rendering of Horace Silver's "Song For My Father." A very
pleasurable outing featuring some stalwarts of the L.A. reggae scene.
