Album Notes
Anne Carley's style on Portfolio is a distinctive blend of influences, from early music to Ashokan swing, from radio pop to classic jazz.

Interwoven percussion, bass, guitars and keyboards, cellos, trumpets, clarinets and voices tell a story and evoke a response.

Click 'Play' to hear clips of all the songs in Portfolio. Read their lyrics under the 'Music & Words' Tab at Anne's website (www.annecarley.com)

Offer your ears to the music. Sit back with hands behind head. Listen. Repeat.

Anne Carley's Portfolio album marks a turning point for her. Inspired by a 2008 residency at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts, she has been exploring outside and among the standard genres. Working toward more composing and arranging for other performers and purposes, she views Portfolio as a bridge to her creative future.

The making of Portfolio - which integrated Anne's studio work on MIDI arrangements, instrumental and backup vocals with live recordings engineered and edited at Jeff Romano's studio - illustrates some of the possibilities. What will be next? She is eager to see. Next up for her: a song cycle, and The Luna Project.

Dreams of Walking
This album is full of both sensitive and witty music. You have to listen to "Feminist Babe", I find myself singing it all the time. "I Think Too Much", another fantastic piece. Well, worth exploring all her sounds and lyrics!
