Album Notes
Yo-Yos, Marbles & A Piece Of String is a collection of demos, live tracks and outtakes from years gone by.

1. Dangerous (A.McCue 2000 APRA-ASCAP)
This is an acoustic demo recorded at Mad Dog Studio by Eric Corne when we were choosing songs for
Koala Motel in 2006.

2. Rain Is Comin' (A.McCue 2011 APRA-ASCAP)
I was having an afternoon nap and I dreamt that Lady Gaga was singing this song on an old black & white
t.v. During the dream I realized it was my song, so I woke myself up and ran to start recording this demo.
About 6 hours later I had this recording.

3. Driving Down Alvarado (Live) (© A.McCue/J.Robin 2004 APRA-ASCAP/BMI)
Recorded at The Rutledge - taken from the Live DVD 'Live In Nashville' in 2011. Originally on the album
Koala Motel. Jess Leary - rhythm guitar, Randy Leago - keys, Geoff Sprung - bass, Todd Jewell - drums.

4. Record Playin' (© Regis McNicholas 1998 BMI)
This was the first song I ever heard Regis sing and I loved it immediately. I used to go over to Dan Marfisi's
house and record songs, we would experiment, no genre imposed. I would play guitars, Dan would play
drums and then each of us would just play whatever else we felt was needed.

5. Fading Light (A.McCue 2002 APRA-ASCAP)
Another one recorded at Dan Marfisi's house.

6. Angel Inside (© A.McCue APRA-ASCAP 1999)
This was the second version of this song that we recorded for my first album, Amazing Ordinary Things. It
didn't end up being on the album. We had a real string section come in headed by Richard Dodd. Recorded
by Bob Biles with Jonathan Merrill and I producing at Jonathan's studio in Silver Lake. See album credits for
more info.

7. I Fell For Him
(© A.McCue APRA-ASCAP 1995)
I think this is the acoustic demo recorded by Bob Biles in Hollywood in about 2001. Can't remember where.
Unless I threw this song into the hat for Koala Motel in which case this was recorded by Eric Corne at Mad
Dog. A song about a street kid.

8. Bird On The Wire
(© L. Cohen )
Me, Dusty Wakeman and Dave Raven recorded this one afternoon at Mad Dog Studio, Burbank. About

9. Christmas Day (© A. McCue APRA-ASCAP 2007)
Written and recorded the same day - December 12th, 2007 (?) - I went over to Michael Starr's Wagon Wheel
Studio in North Hollywood and he recorded it. I hand delivered it to KCRW and Anne Litt played it on air just
a while later. Nic Harcourt also gave it a spin.

10. Old Man's Talking (Live)
(© A.McCue 2009 APRA-ASCAP)
Taken from the live DVD, 'Live In Nashville.' Originally from the album 'Broken Promise Land.' Jess Leary -
rhythm guitar, Randy Leago - keys, Geoff Sprung - bass, Todd Jewell - drums.

11. When I Was A Girl (© A.McCue 2008 APRA-ASCAP)
I was just sitting around playing and had happened to press record - just mucking around… Dishes being
washed in the kitchen.
